The drink came soon after she ordered it. ”Spasiba,” the word thank you given in thickening tongue before the drink was taken up and then downed without flinching. The clear liquid burned it’s way down her esophagus and settled like a cooling fire in the pit of her stomach. Though were the liquor had brought her warmth the sudden feeling of eyes on her caused bone to chill and breath to stifle. Slowly, and without moving her head gaze shifted to note the direction the gaze was coming from.

Eric. He was watching her, just as she had watched him, but where surprise and a tingle of yearning mixed with disbelief had fitted her gaze all she could read within his own was a need, neigh a hunger. One she’d never seen before despite the many times she had drove him to want in bed, no this was not simple lust as he’d shown towards the woman at his side, but something more, something primal and despite ever bone in her body saying she should fear this look, this call, she could not. Too strong was their bond, the chemistry; too strong were her curiosity, and most importantly her pride. She would not run from this man her partner, lover, and dare she say it, friend.

Her name, spoken in thick Russian, drifted towards earlobe as she rose from her chair slowly turning towards bar but refusing to take a step towards it. She was a trained assassin, an intelligence gatherer, and already she knew that whoever the woman was beside Eric she was not someone to be trifled with, despite appearance. Unsure if her life was in danger or not, the escape routes had already been marked. The front door from which she came, five feet from her right followed by the back door which was three feet behind the bar which lay only a foot from her current position. Though the bartender had gone towards the back and the front held a man that she’d already pegged as nonhuman on her arrival. In fact if she had to think about it she might be outnumbered in the mortal realm of things. The bartender was human of that she was sure, the blonde woman with color splashed on arms she had a feeling was not, and there was the bouncer. That left only Eric undetermined and at the moment she still thought him a ghost.

”Я думал Вы мертвый.” Words spoken in Russian, stating she thought him dead though a glance towards the woman at his side and she spoke again, this time in broken English. ”You escaped.” Obvious statement, for he would not be here had he not. ”They tell me nothing.” She’d been left to carry on alone, with the mission, with looking for him, with all of it. But she was not here seeking pity. She had come because Intel had told her that the creature she sought to kill was back in town. The one who had leaked information to the rest of their mission, the one who had seen that they were separated, and as she would later come to find out had quite possibly turned her partner into the monster he now was.

It's a devil's disguise

Angel in black

I don't know if I want you back

You're the cool nights of the desert

And the hot kisses of the sun

Why is it that I don't believe you

When you say I'm the only one

I know I'm the lonely one

It's a devil's disguise

Angel in black

And I recognize the shadows from your past

It's a devil's disguise

Angel in black
