James nodded his acceptance of Lessa's excuse for being late, it was a good one. He wanted a drink, but didn't feel like wading through the crowd to go get one. Instead he gave Lessa a little bit of space, scooting back away from her a little. The last thing he wanted to do was pressure her, but his canine nature craved physical contact. He'd always just slept around to get that fill of contact, but he rather liked this woman... He could only prey that she would accept his flaws for the whole of him. "How many horses do you have right now? Jess keeps throwing new names at me and i haven't been able to keep count"

Jess was so absorbed in trying to ignore her pain, she hardly noticed clay until he spoke. There where so many sounds in the club, her occupied mind hadn't registered the knock, or even the door opening. Her head snapped up as he spoke, though only the softness of his tone and volume kept her butt on the ground. She was used to getting picked on by other creatures in human form, her kind was so scarce that they where seen only as annoyances, or new playthings. Her brother was a little luckier, but only because he could match whatever was picking on him... She was always just a lowly coyote. She cocked her head as he spoke again, extending the bottle to her. He stayed out of her personal space, only stepping close enough to offer her the water. She missed his veiled complement for what it was. All she knew was she was hurt still, and he was more than capable of hurting her again, even without the gun. She took a long swolow from the bottle, her gaze never leaving him. "Shure your not here to finish what you started?" She mumbled, doubting he would hear her, and hiding her lips behind the bottle

i move on like a sinners prayer
i let 'em go like a levee breaks
walk away as if i don't care
learn to shoulder my mistakes
getting reckless when there's no need
break my heart but it won't bleed
i'm better as a memory than as your man
