Lessa watched James approach, with a smirk on her lips. She’d managed to get that star struck look off her features, and compose them into something resembling her normal appearance. With a soft huff, she scooted over as James slid into the booth seat beside her, his side connecting solidly with hers from knee to shoulder. The full on contact surprised her, which helped in getting her to scoot over. Her first instinct was to shy away from so much contact. “Horses had to be fed” Lessa retorted, her gaze shifting from James, to Clay, and then finally to the stage, and the path James had taken to get to them. “I wasn’t paying attention” She shrugged and took a sip of her drink, as she scanned the club for jess.
Clay watched James and his cousin, watched the way Lessa flushed just slightly as the other man slid in beside her, and the slight rush to her movements in scooting in to give him enough room. What, did the guy had fleas or something? He’d never seen Lessa react so strongly around anyone, then again, he hadn’t really spent a whole lot of time around her and other guys. His gaze shifted, and focused on James as he questioned where his own sister had gotten to. “I think she exited on the far side of the stage.” In fact, he knew she had. He’d been watching her like a hawk, the tension on her face, and the stiffness in her body. She was hurting something awful. “I think I’m gonna go get another drink.. Maybe see if I can’t get some of these pretty young things to dance with me.” He winked at James and Lessa, and slid from the bench, making his way through the crowd toward the bar. He ordered a soda and water, and glanced around the bar as he waited. When his drinks were thunked down on the counter, he thanked Angelina, and laid a ten down before heading quietly for the back room Jess had disappeared into. He knocked once, then, bottle of water in the crook of his arm, opened the door and stepped inside. “Hey..” his voice was only loud enough to be heard by her, though he didn’t necessarily know why he kept it low. It wasn’t like anyone else was in here, or they had eavesdroppers. “I brought you a water.. you look like you could use it… Especially after singing like that.” He smiled at her, and stepped only close enough to hand her the bottle of water.
