Her single word crossed the distance between them, and he looked as if he'd been physically stricken. A storm of emotions swirled in his gaze just as turbulently as the the storm brewing outside. He was just barely aware of the other man as he shifted into his perhipheral vision.

For one terrible moment, he thought he would turn exit anyway, just like a cowardly dog with it's tail between it's legs. But it seemed he was incapable of any movement, one shoulder propped against the door, the other man's keys hanging from his fingertips. All he could do was stare at the very woman who had possessed his whole heart at one time--in truth, who still had it--...who had seen him in his times of darkness, and loved him anyway.

She closed the distance and the thunder rolled as the skies opened outside, the rain coming in torrents. As she spoke his name, it could not have hurt worse if she'd driven a dagger right into his chest. The very worst part of it all was that it all boiled down to his own selfish foolish actions. He could see the pain in her eyes, the confusion, the shock. All caused by him, and he had never hated himself more.

Throat thick with emotion, he breaths her name hoarsly. "Angelina..." Brows narrow slightly as he struggles to keep it together. "I'm..." A pause, his gaze still locked to hers. She was all he saw in this moment--not the man who'd shown him kindness, not the barroom accents--just her. "I'm sorry." His voice was choked. He had never intended for it to be this way...and no two words had he ever meant more.

____i will holler you home_____
