Booted from the Miss Universe Canada competition because she had appeared in commercials for a website that promotes infidelity, Gatineau resident Sophie Froment still plans to be in attendance tonight when they crown the winner in Toronto.

"I might even end up wearing the gown that I didn’t get a chance to wear. I think it might be a good opportunity," the uOttawa student said yesterday after being informed Saturday that she was disqualified from the competition for appearing in commercials for AshleyMadison.com, a dating website for people who are married.

A statement from Miss Universe Canada said that, "unfortunately, (Froment) had made some career choices that are not compatible with the image of women that our organization tries to promote."

Froment is not interested in returning to the competition, but said it was unfair since the commercials were just part of a job.

"It’s OK for girls to go on stage in bikinis during the competition, but it’s not OK for me to act and model? It’s a character, it’s nothing more," she said.

"It’s not like I was shooting porn. It’s acting."
