His spirits rose drastically as Death reappeared though anxiety still clung to him like a second skin. The stallion bestowed one last nudge on Echo before venturing to Death's side. His gentle gaze swept over her tears and her sorrowful expression. His muzzle descended to brush lightly against her cheek. -Death, what's wrong?- he asked softly, his deep baritone reverberating from his vocal cords. He not only sought to bring solace to the mare, he also needed answers for himself as well. Why did she leave to begin with? Had he wronged her in some way? One aud pricked in Echo's direction in case she wakened as the other pointed firmly toward Death.
