Sun Kissed Beach

~*Paradise Under Fire*~

The beach has not changed, the tides still cycle through their phases, unperturbed by the disturbances around them. The sand still sparkles under the glaring light of the watchful sun as the palm fronds wave gently in the embrace of a light breeze. But something was definitely wrong. No birds sang in the lush forest surrounding this little slice of heaven. There were no joyful nickers of contented horses grazing on the lush grassland leading into the beach. No foals frolicked in the foam of the rushing waves. It had all changed, the serenity stripped away by the brutality of war. The battle had begun. Slowly but steadily, the ranks of the armies began to arrive. Faces devoid of happiness but touched by hope gather to face their enemies in order to preserve their way of life. Courage and loyalty had brought them here, as well as a desire to protect that which they held most dear. Only time would reveal the result of this battle, only the victors would see the next sunrise.

I know this is asking a lot, but please indulge me for a moment. As everybody probably knows, today, September 11, 2003, marks the 2 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America. Many lives were lost in the senseless tragedies, not only from the actual attacks, but from the aftermath, police, firefighters, ordinary citizens, coming to the rescue of their fellow man, doing their duty when it condemned them to their own deaths. I wish that everyone could hold a moment of silence for the ones who were killed, and especially the families and friends of the victims, who had people very dear to them snatched away because of another's madness. Whether you love the United States or hate it, the senseless murder of hundreds and thousands of human beings is a horrible waste. Please take a moment to count your blessings, to realize that no matter how much your family or friends may get on your nerves, it would be so much worse if they weren't there at all.

~And so they came. Ebon' femmora of slightly appearing age stood her ground as those of the darker heart and soul approached. Dial is raised and nares flare as flinted hoof stuck the ground. Crystal orbs shown in anger and distaste as she saw DEL with an old 'aquantice' even Rush was busy. Twas her turn now. She was ready to defend what was rightly there's. Did anyone dare to try and stop her~

Far from any fighter, she hated above all else work, physical, mental, or otherwise. She was begining to think that she was better off at the stables she escaped from what seemed so long ago. Stables..Her mind drifted to sugar cubes and carrots, but then was flung back into her new reality when a battling pair of horses appeared. She did NOT want to be here, but all evils where requested so here she was. She heaved a sigh and prepared for the worst.

Topaz huntress of a vibrant burning gold touched with darkest sooty ebon on the slender, strong legs, and small, delicate muzzle, lifts knees high, fluidly in the flowing, showy 1-2-3-4 gait of the Paso Fino. Her swift movements are sure-footed and flashy, and everything about her speaks of hard strength, there is steel in her small, compact body. Her every action radiates power and muscles are taut as a tightly coiled spring, ready to leap into action at any moment. Her well-muscled, warriorlike wild countenance sings proudly of a well-bred Spanish beauty, but her finely chiseled features are fierce with a mustang spirit, a will and iron to be free, and to fight until there she is no more, or till the enemy is vanquished. Her whole being is savvy, showing she has survived much, and will not be beaten easily. Silken tresses ripple and dance like coal-hued ribbons on her powerful arched crest, raven forelock falling 'cross her line of vision, and she flicks it aside without thought or emotion. Like a bronze amazon, she halts on a rise and stands motionless, wind flowing through black rivulets. Suddenly she rears and tears violently at the air, slashing and rending at it mercilessly with small, flinty hooves sharp and ready for battle. A challenging, wild scream pierces the air as she attacks the atmosphere with deadly fury, her cry a warning, and an invitatio, to any evil who is near.

A piercing whinny announced the arrival of the coppery palomino mare. Her hoofbeats thundered against the firmly packed sand though her heartbeat and ragged breath were the only sounds she could hear. Her platinum mane whipped against her arched neck as her similarly hued tail unfurled like a banner, its very ends dipped in sooty charcoal. Her arrival here in times before would have wounded her heart as memories of her past haunted her. But now she was free of all that. At least, until now. War had added a new burden to the young mare. She slowed her pace before splashing into the waves, the cool water cleansing her pelt of the lather that had accumulated there.

It was preety sad and now she had her own foal to fight for and her own hame that is the only thing that keepet her going now!Her colorful mane flew out behind her revling a musculer body that was ready t fight for her home,and if she died she knew that it would be for a good cause and Rain would ake good care of her foal.The only question was now what were we going to do now Shazam was not here,but the Darks were!And they were ready to fight as well!So what were thay going to do?

New arrivals... -- Misa, Mali, Dessa, Rio, 09/10/03 7:27pm
Moving sedately, the odd quartet made their way to the scene of the final battle.

First came Misa. The daughter of Cole, the lead stallion of Secret Grove. Charred flints sank deeply into the shifting sands, the tropical breeze tangling her splotched tresses.

Not far behind was Mali. The ebony panther had not been seen around CM for some time. But she remembered Shazaam from many, many moons ago. She remembered his kindness and curiosity and would now fight to help him protect his lands. Her silver-tipped tail swayed lazily behind her as she followed the mare.

Padding silently behind the panther came Dessa. The powerfully built husky-mix glanced around the terra, sizing up her opponents. Pearly fangs snapped audibly in agitation. Keen eyes returned to the panther's form, following closely.

Bringing up the rear was a massive Percheron stallion, Rio. His gentle eyes took in the scene of all the creatures of CM gathered together in one area. Like his comrades, he would fight to help his friends and pray that he was helpful in his endeavors.

Their entrance complete, the quartet stood apart, each in their own world, waiting to finish what should have never been started.

Female Rides in on a great white horse she smelled the wind. War. Her eyes hardened and her horse rears she scanned the terra watching all the light preparing for battle. She slid off her horse and land on the sand, sparkling light shimmers and she disappears in a flash reappering a second later in pants of pure golden color and and shirt of pale gold. She looked at her horse and pats her neck. So it begins....

Tree Wisperer rears and watches 'is lady his eyes scanned the terra. He watches all the horses lining up and getting ready to fight for thier homeland... he too used to live here once long ago he was young yes but it was still his homeland he would die defending it...... His eyes darted back to 'is lady. She would ride him into battle with all the animals on thier side.

The firegold femora placed hoof upon the land. Flints left no mark as she tread lightly in the area. Snort escaped mug as she stood at the water's edge letting lap at her feet. Whisk flickered at hocks brushing them softly sharp ooculies looking out. Tower flicked to wait for sounds to emerge behind her. One forward one back she awaited watching out for any danger to herself.

Hi guys, how lovely to see you all gathered under such pleasant terms. If only that were true. Anyway, to the business at hand. First off, there are going to be some guidelines to this nonsense so we don't have two dragons picking on one horse and things like that.

#1 Stick to your own species. That means mythicals will fight mythicals, dragons will fight dragons. A wolf or panther against a horse isn't such a farfetched idea however. Also, any equine with an unusual power will be considered a mythical. This is just to keep things fair and realistic. You can't have a horse going up against another horse who has the power to flambee the first one.

#2 For obvious reasons, foals are not to participate in the battle for either side. That's just utterly ridiculous. If a foal can't sneak, then a foal can't fight PERIOD.

#3 No ganging up on each other. This goes for both sides. Three Lights are not going to bombard one Evil or vice versa.

So let's keep this fair so it's actually sort of fun and not just a big pain in the neck.

In accordance with Shaz's orders, the chestnut hurried back to her home, her heart rejoicing to see the familiar land once again. Blonde hair spilled over her muscled neck as she raised her muzzle to intake the salt-scented air. Breathing deeply, she tried to imagine the beach covered with battling equines, locked together in the heat of their rage. The image would not come, so unlikely did the situation seem in this paradise of lapping waves and leafy palms. Sighing heavily, she waited for the rest of the army to arrive, namely her mate and Castaway.

Although blind, his now ice blue eyes scan the terra, thanks to the special power that makes him see with his hoof sending what the area around him looks like. Dark mare entered the lands at the commands of Shazzam. Raven tassels fly about her hide, chasing all the flies from her precious rump. Short, but strong, limbs carry her easily across the sandy beach, until she stopped at the point where she was going to meet Forest and his sons.

Unicorn brute entered unfamiliar territories, though he knew they were safe. Golden horn shone brightly along with his golden and silver hooves. Pallid plume flickers around his white hide, blowing in the summer breeze. Crania is held high, lanterns searching for Black Diamond, his only horse friend. Trotting until he saw her, he sped up to meet her. Hello, Diamond, we shall be fighting side by side, eh? He smiles warmly to her as he asks a retorical question. Soft nostrils flare as he snorts, awaiting his two sons.

Stallion of ebon' hue follows the hoof-prints of his fathers, think so much about his daughters. How were they? Were they safe? Toss of his dark head shook the pallid tassels about his nape, throwing the thoughts out of his head for now. A flex of his black wings, and the shimmering of his golden horn, told all around the territory that he was of mythical lineage. Golden hooves dance under him, closing in on the position of his father and Diamond. She had heard much about his father's friend, but had never actually met her, and he was looking forward to it. Reaching them a nod of his dark crania was the only form of greeting. For this was about business, and if they all survived a more relaxed meeting could be scheduled.

The sense of anxiousness filled his already complicated mind, and he felt it more than anyone. All of the horses here had projected their feelings to him, though they did not mean to, and he put up a shield to block them. History: Calypso�s sire was the legendary Aramis, winner of World Cups, Nationals, and countless other huge competitions, and son of the great stallion Weltmeyer. Her dam, Alydarenee, was a daughter of Alydar, two-time champion in the Olympics. Alydarenee was a exceptional showjumper, excelling in the world of jumping. She was shown since six months old, winning trophies and blues wherever she went, in halter classes until she was old enough and trained to show in dressage. Her �owners� also began jumping her a little, but preferred dressage to the �follies of jumping.� Calypso had all of the talent and beauty to have won the Olympics, World Cup, all of it. But forced to do flatwork instead of the soaring she loved, she grew restless and angry, and when being worked in the arena, threw her rider and leapt the fence. She then wandered until she came upon this place.

Bay mare canters fluidly in, her gait smooth and even. She seems to float on the ground on hooves of grace, the result of years of careful breeding. Her long, thick mane streams and ripples to the beat of three, flowing out behind her in free midnight clouds. The shackles of saddle and bridle that had once encased her were long gone, ruined by time and the seasons. Finely shaped head is carried high and set perfectly in the correct position, ready for any stray log or stream that she could see. Spotting a wide gurgling brook, she gallops eagerly toward it, and leaps over, soaring with an exhilaration existing for her only in the airborne glory of jumping. She flies in exceptional form over it, landing with perfect precision. Slowing to a gorgeous extended trot, she looks around her with dark, bright eyes, ears flicking everywhere, pricked forward alertly. Where was she now?

The black stallion slowly enters upon the sandy beach and stops. To his astonishment, he had seen someone he had dreamed about for the passing of over a year. His heart had leapt out of it's place. Could it be, is it she. Could it be the one that he was in love with and never stopped loving. Was he seeing this or was his mind playing the most cruel trick on him. ebony limbs carry his muscled hide over to the palamino mare that he once new, stopping close by.

It was so much pain looking back over those memories that you wished never had happened. With the passing of time he had grown so much, he kept his silence about all and now he felt he could set it all free. What would have been her reaction? Would she just run away from him? Did she even want to see him again? So many questions and such little time. He didn't want to leave but he had a feeling that he had to. As much as he wanted to move closer to her he didn't. Oh the months that passed and his yearning to see her once more.

It's good to see you again......
