Subject: [ . Peace . ]

Having removed herself from the happy homecoming, the golden-hued mare moved slowly t'wards the sparkling saltwater of the beach. A light wind blew silky flaxen tresses, tangling the strands into complex knots. Jaded orbs watched as the foam-capped waves raced t'wards the shoreline, slamming unchecked against her legs and sending the salty spray upwards to coat her pelt. Sensitive nares took in the scent of the salt, the sand, and the clean air that was a trademark of her home. Delicate flutes swiveled to catch every sound; the excited squeal of a foal at play, the quiet nickers between the adults, the screeching call of the gulls that circled from above, the rough waves crashing against the sands in a symphony as old as time. The aging mare let out a sigh of contentment. All was well for now. Her friends were safe and her mate and daughter were firmly entrenched at Paradise Isle. Peace seemed to reign supreme. But for how long? The palomino silently chided herself... No need to borrow trouble, it would find her soon enough. It always did. With that troubling thought, she removed herself from the water, her serene mood broken. With graceful, liquid strides, she broke into a two-beat gait, heading for a grassier place to graze. Upon reaching her destination, she dropped her head, nibbling lightly at the emerald green vegetation. She struggled to regain the sense of peace that had enveloped her only minutes before, but to no avail. A niggling worry had descended upon her, almost a dark cloud that set her senses on alert. But nothing had presented itself as a threat. Forcing herself to relax, the fae resumed her grazing, trying valiantly to push all dark thoughts from her mind.
