Sun Kissed Beach

~*Paradise Under Fire*~

The beach has not changed, the tides still cycle through their phases, unperturbed by the disturbances around them. The sand still sparkles under the glaring light of the watchful sun as the palm fronds wave gently in the embrace of a light breeze. But something was definitely wrong. No birds sang in the lush forest surrounding this little slice of heaven. There were no joyful nickers of contented horses grazing on the lush grassland leading into the beach. No foals frolicked in the foam of the rushing waves. It had all changed, the serenity stripped away by the brutality of war. The battle had begun. Slowly but steadily, the ranks of the armies began to arrive. Faces devoid of happiness but touched by hope gather to face their enemies in order to preserve their way of life. Courage and loyalty had brought them here, as well as a desire to protect that which they held most dear. Only time would reveal the result of this battle, only the victors would see the next sunrise.

The sterling monarch entered the lands of her people with a graceful air. Her delicate features appeared strained, much stress had been placed on one so young. Ther silver mare nickered in greeting, before speaking, hefr tones clear and commanding, like the peal of church bells calling attention.

~Please, Paradise Isle is under attack. If any of you find it in your hearts to aid us, please do so. Please, hurry.~

With those few words, she turned and left, cantering smoothly on to the next terra.

I am back.. but due some things in life I will not be able to post as often. I am determined not to quite ANY of my characters though. I went back re-read and have an idea. The sun had just risen above the misty caps of the mountains framing the beach. The mists of morning slowly fading into the light of day. Out of the mist came a silven fatale, one of noble bearing, and royal blood. She stood, facing her firelit opponent. The battle had lasted long into the night, and out into morning. The sterling fae was bored, this was going nowhere. Tossing her delicate crania, she pawed the warming sands. Her patience was being tested, but she would wait. Her once immaculate hide now sported several scars, some which would follow her through her lifetime. Her slender thorns pricked forward, awaiting any sound of movement from her opposition.

Thanks to the intervention of his opponent's large and fire-breathing friend, the stallion had been denied his impending battle. Still fuming, he wandered the dunes, his chocolate gaze seeking friend or foe, his preference uncertain. It had been some time since he had seen Echo and Death, the ravages of war had taken their toll on the relationships forming between himself and the two females.

.the small group of horses stand, a tiny gathering of lights amidst the melee. a paint, his kaleidoscope colors a beacon; a tall, bulky bay, calm brown eyes surveying his home in sadness; a slender, raven hued stallion with hints of blue in his tarnished coat; a petite bay mare, looking worse for the wear. they all stand in silence, the only noise being the sound of the mare's labored breathing. the stallions turn worried eyes towards the aging femme, her bay coat flecked with white hairs and dried lather. she snorts and shakes her head, straggly mane flying. all equines stand and watch, wondering what exactly was taking place.

The night-daughter smiles. It was a hollow thing, no real meaning behind the grin. She thinks, eyes closed, for a moment, then answers the Queen. Because. Because it is wrong to take a distant land and force it under your tyrannical rule for no reason. Because it is wrong to attack hapless citzens and push them away from their home. Because succeeding in this will throw our world out of whack. All the time her voice grew steadily softer, eventually becoming a hiss of sorts. Because... because it is my Duty as Earth Gaurdian to support, not the side I owe my allegiance to, but to what is best for our whole world. If you wish to leave, Her eyes narrow, staring into Halette's. That is not my problem. She waves a claw dismissivley. But I am staying here. She looks away, frowning. I don't want to fight you, but.... I will.

Sterlng femora stepped forth from the Ward, her silven hide gleaming in the mid-afternoon sun. Azure orbs glinted like icy flames, burning with an intensity far beyond the reaches of mortal fire. Her ebonite talons dug shallow trenches in the blistering sand. Ebonti and ivory swirled locks swirled about her slender frame. Muscles lean and taught, she looked like the noble lady she was, and she knew it. Her sapphire pools took on a deadly gleam, the kind look and gentle eye which was of the norm vanished in the blink of an eye, replaced with something that could only be identified as pure savagry. She was now a lady, one of stature and importance, and would fight to defend the lands she loved so dearly.

The brunt of his opponent's attack caused the stallion to stagger backwards, his teeth bared in a grimace of pain. His skin had been torn from the razor edges of Devil Raven's flints, leaving his chest running with rivulets of crimson blood. Breathing hard, he stared balefully at the Evil stallion. Obviously, his offensive game needed a little work, how about his defensive manuevers? He began to circle the other warily, wincing slightly with every step. His eyes remained locked on Raven's heated gaze, daring him to make a move.

Introduction is simple and over in mere moments, yet now Isis has a name to connect to this strange stallion. "Battlecry Forever." The mare repeats, filing the name in her memory.

But the name offered little else. She wanted to know why he was here. Why he insisted on watching the fight...oh, the fight. Her eyes shuffle to the ground, seaching for the form of that other mare. Yes, it was still there. Breathless she believes, but she doesn't check. How silly for her to have forgotten the other, her opponent. And forget the blood that spilled over the sand, seeping into the crystal cracks and oozes around her hooves. She's dead. Very dead. It was not the first death, in fact, she felt nothing to this mare. Except pity that no one had claimed her broken form. It was nothing like the deaths before. Where she killed...her family...her beloved.

No, there would be no depression after having this mare die at her hands. No failed attempts at suicide or wondering why it was not her who died. Nothing would come of this.

Except, she met this stallion. Perhaps, he...? No, he wouldn't understand. Her secret must be kept. Ziraga had known, but now he too was gone. She shakes her head, issuing a new smile upon her face. "My name is Isis."

On slender pistons, the enoby mare cants in swiftly. Her coal black mane (matching her hooves of equal hue) waves in the light sea breeze of the terra. With a sudden jolting stop she diges her hooves in the soft stand, coming to a still. She lets out a whinny in her sweet, almost sing song voice. Without a doubt, she would fight. Wanderer though she be, the lights were her people.
