Kel, we now know that the truth of the matter is that the earth is globe shaped. Some people kept on noticing things which indicated it couldn't be flat. I could live my whole life in times past and not know it's not flat because I didn't work it out myself. Now we have images of the globe, we have notions of gravity, we get onto planes and fly round the world, there is lots of easily available evidence that it's a globe.

We know an awful lot more today about the natural world than we did a couple of hundred years ago.

We Know that all foetuses are female and men are formed when there is a Y chromosome. You and I don't know that personally, I don't know how electricity works either. The phrase beyond all reasonable doubt applies here.

One of the commonest excuses a closet gay makes when confronted with evidence he has been having sex with men is I was sexually abused as a child.

Let's assume they didn't learn to say that from their therapists and gay friends, let's assume they are telling the truth. It still didn't turn them gay. That had already happened during their development in the womb.

Of course you can believe whatever you want, Kel, but don't you want to know the truth of the matter? don't you think we all need to change our beliefs at times - we'd still be believing the world was flat if we didn't - and what on earth would we make of the sailors coming back from the other side of the world with their spices and treasures and extraordinary tales if we hadn't let their experience change our minds? and if we had ignored the scientists who could explain how come it Must be a globe shape? Neither Galileo or Copernicus had the benefit of a photo taken from space.
