Subject: The sheer brutally basic/primitive conditions that Claire works in always amazes me. My Mom was an OR nurse in the 70s - early 90s, and I volunteered there my senior year of high school, so I saw a lot of different types of surgery. It was all relatively clean, with the patient's body draped except where the actual incision was, not to mention sanitary, with sterilized instruments, gloves, gowns, caps, etc.
