To be completely honest, I don't think I had considered whether they could assimilate the midi-chlorians themselves. :) To my mind that would be like considering whether the Borg could assimilate the bacteria that lives in a person's stomach. Why would it be important?

If you are talking about not being able to assimilate force users, then I would have to disagree. According to SW, midi-chlorians exist in all things, so unless you are suggesting that all living beings in SW are immune to assimilation, then I don't see any reason why nanittes would not work as such. Don't get me wrong, a talented and powerful force user 'may' be able to use the force to help him resist the nanites, but just having MCs in his body would not in my opinion automatically grant immunity.

I don't see why they would have to destroy them (even if they could!). AFAIK, midi-chorians exist in good people, bad people, people that are not human etc etc. Why would they not exist quite happily inside a Borg drone?
