The next day Olamide and John were in the studio again, this time with Missy, Timbaland and JD …trying to make a hot track. JD even brought Da Brat, Lil Bow Wow and JE along.

Timbaland- you gon freestyle the lyrics?
Missy- ain’t that the best way to do it?
Brian- and I just wrote lyrics to this ballad …I was gon use if for our album but it doesn’t go with the rest of the songs.
Kyle- it’s tight though …I told him we should have done it …but we’ll come up with another one

So they recorded Da Brat’s remix to Debarge’s song “I Like It” then they recorded a song with JE by the time they finished it was after 12 so they all headed home.
Olamide started watching TV as soon as he got there, his mind slowly drifted back to the pass. It seemed like he couldn’t stay in the present. He didn’t really have any happy times right now, just work, work, and more work.

Kaylonie- how long you suspended for?
Clara- 10 days
Kaylonie- so what chu gon do?
Clara- just stay home and chill
Kaylonie- you know daddy gon be mad
Clara- I’on care …him and mama gotta come out to the school anywayz …they wanna put me in anger management classes
Kaylonie- dang that sounds funny …you needin anger management ha
Clara- (laughs) whatever …daddy said he gon cuss them people out for sayin that about me
Kaylonie- AHHHHHHH I CAN SEE DADDY NOW!!!! (Imitating their dad) “Oh no you white hefa! My baby girl does not need none of that crazy white people shit …you need to tell these hoes to leave my daughter alone” and if the people get flip

Ring~ Clara’s phone
Kaylonie- girl hurry up and answer your phone
Clara- dang Kaylonie …let caller I.D. pick it up first

Clara- it ain’t yo phone (looks at the caller I.D.) ohh it’s my baby!!! (Picks up the phone)
Kaylonie- oh lawd
Clara- hey

Clara- whatever
Olamide- what chu doin tonight?
Clara- nothing …just being on punishment
Olamide- hell naw for real??
Clara- yeah …I got suspended for 10 days and they said I needed anger management classes
Olamide- well I could have told you that
Clara- shut up
Olamide- but I thought your parents were mad cool
Clara- my dad is …my mama tha one who put me on punishment
Olamide- I thought yall ain’t have to listen to her
Clara- boy where did you get that idea
Olamide- well you know your daddy is her-

Clara- well you’re telling me to go against my parents …I’ve already been in a fight and got suspended from school …none of this ever happened before

Olamide- Clara I don’t have to listen to this …you act like I’m a problem child …this is a very important performance and it would mean a lot to me if you were there …it ain’t like I’m asking you to come rob a 7 eleven with me …just sneak out …it isn’t like you ever do anything else
Clara- I have to go …I’m sorry Olamide (hangs up) can you believe him?

Clara- sneak out to come to his performance

Clara- some performance he claims is so important with Imajin …it’s like their first real one …I guess in front of record peeps

Kaylonie- depends …if I really loved the boy …or deal with mama’s wrath …if it was love I’d deal with the wrath

Kaylonie- gurl it’s just like on Love & Basketball when Omar Epps ask what’s her face to stay with him that night and she said if she missed curfew she couldn’t lead in the game or whatever like I know …but anywayz she avoided the coaches wrath and went in for curfew but let down the love of her life then when he was like “You should have stayed” she was like well you can’t make me choose I wouldn’t have asked you to choose and he was like “you wouldn’t have had too” watch that movie gurl …it’s powerful

At Olamide’s house
Jamal- (all hyped) man what time do we leave?
John- bout 11:45
Jamal- coo …yall game?
John- oh fo sho …I can’t wait to go
Talib- yeah me too …cuz you know when I get on stage it’s all over
John- cuz when they see you they all start leaving
Jamal- (laughs) you wrong
John- they be like “we didn’t come here to see stick man”
Talib- whatever John …I’m so excited even you can’t get me down
John- whatever (sneaks a peek at Olamide sitting on the sofa like his puppy just ran away) man Lamz what’s wrong with you?
Olamide- (fake smile) ohh nuthin …just tryin to save my energy for the show
Jamal- ohh Clara coming?
Olamide- naw man …she on punishment for bitch slappin that hoe Glori
Talib- oh you mean the love of your life?
Olamide- naw yo baby mama
Talib- whatever
John- dang that’s messed up she ain’t comin though …this is like our first real professional performance in front of the record company executives
Olamide- I know …but maybe she’ll be able to make it to the next one
Jamal- yeah
Olamide- what time is it?
Jamal- 11:15
Olamide- ohh well we got time …I’m about go to the bathroom right quick
All- aiight

Olamide went upstairs to his room and sat on the bed, he took a small box out of his pocket and opened it. Inside was a charm bracelet with a heart on it. He held it up, looked at it and put it back in the box. Then he went to his dresser and pulled out a small ring in a zip lock bag. He was about to put the bracelet in the bag but changed his mind. He stayed in his room for a while until about 11:30 then headed back down stairs.

Clara- you sure they sleep?
Nelly- yeah they sleep …you better be glad I’m doin this so hurry up
Clara- wait Nelly (looking in the mirror) how do I look?
Nelly- ma you look good now come on
Clara- naw you just sayin that cuz you my brother
Nelly- do you think I could have an ugly sister? No! Now bring yo azz on dirty before pops wakes up
Clara- aiight come on …what time is it?
Nelly- almost 11:30
They leave and head to Olamide’s house

John- dang man …bout time you came down …it’s 11:30 we almost ready to leave
Olamide- my fault dang
Jamal- well come on yall …let’s be out
As soon as they opened the door Clara was about to knock.
Olamide- Clara!! What are you doin here
Clara- isn’t your very important performance tonight?
Olamide- well yeah but I thought you were on punishment and you-
Clara- (cuts him off) and I wouldn’t miss it for the world
John- well since we don made a love connection reunion …can we go now
Jamal- yeah come on let’s be out

After the performance Olamide and Clara stopped by the park before they went back to Clara’s house to drop her off.
Olamide- I’m so happy you came …what made you change ur mind?
Clara- (smiles) Kaylonie broke it down for me …in …a way I could relate
Olamide- it’s cool …long as you came …I can’t believe Nelly snuck you out though
Clara- it was blackmail don’t worry about it
Olamide- (laughs) oh aiight …oh yeah I almost forgot …I brought something for you
Clara- uuww gimmie gimmie
Olamide- (laughs) gurl you a trip (tales out tha black box and gives it to her) open it slowly
Clara- whatever (pop opens tha box as fast as she can) AHHHHHH LAMI IT’S SOOO CUTE THANK YOU (hugs him around the neck almost choking him)
Olamide- (pulling her off) dang gurl calm down …it’s alright
Clara- Lami Dami it is soo cute …and it has a lil heart on it
Olamide- yeah …that’s a symbol of my heart …you’ll always have it
Clara- awww Lami that is sooo sweet (kisses him) I don’t even have anything for you …I feel so bad
Olamide- it’s cool …sneaking out tonight was enough
Clara- Olamide I love you
Olamide- (kisses her) I love you too

Back home
Clara snuck in through the kitchen door and tried to sneak up stairs but was walked right back down stairs by her dad.
Dad- young lady where have you been?
Clara- (scared) nowhere
Dad- yeah and where is that? (Sitting down) don’t lie to me
Clara- okay …I was out with Lamz …I went to his performance
Dad- didn’t your mother tell you not to go out …aren’t you on punishment for fighting over that same lil boy
Clara- papi I wasn’t fighting over him
Dad- yeah baby whatever …what chu doin sneaking out to a performance
Clara- he said it was really important and didn’t want me to miss it
Dad- and where did yall go after the performance?
Clara- nowhere (her dad looks at her like “yeah right”) well we went by the park but that was it then he brought me here
Dad- (sees the bracelet on her arm) did he get you that?
Clara- yeah
Dad- you sure that’s all that happened?
Clara- yeah that’s it
Dad- don’t get caught up with these lil boys …I was his age once …and I know what he’s thinking about
Clara- okay papito
Dad- now hurry up to bed before your mami wakes up
Clara- (smiles) okay
She gives her father a hug and kiss and runs upstairs. She had a special bond with her father. She didn’t like what he did but he was still her father and always took up for her. She knew that she was his favorite too, because she was the only one that didn’t judge him. She loved her father though, and so did most of her friend gurls because her dad still looked and acted young.
