the rubber section isn't so much a shock absorber as a method of dealing with misalignment through engine vibration.

it used to be said that you needed two of three options, flexible coupling, flexible engine mounts, shaft length of 20 times diameter.

The engine handbook for the nanni should advise what the requirements are for installation and should advise you on what methods are recommended.
