Hi, the trapper 500 has a very simple rig and it is reasonably easy to tune. The first thing is to make sure that the mast is upright in the side to side plane, then set a small amount of rake aft.

Check the mast is vertical side to side, this can be done with a topping lift of the main halyard pulled to one toe rail and then to the same place on the opposite toe rail, remove any difference by adjusting the cap shrouds, qtr turn one side folowed by a qtr turn the other untill you have it more or less correct.

Now sight up the mast, the mainsail track is a good indicator, you are looking to remove any sideways bowing. This can be tuned out with the lower shrouds, a qtr turn one side followed by a corresponding turn the other side until you have it straight.

Check for a small amout of aft rake, you'll need a calm day and use the main halyard as a pendulum I think about 2" rake aft is about right but don't give it too much otherwise you might induce excessive weather helm.

Now go sailing on the wind in about 20 knots and check that the lee shrouds aren't hanging loose adjust in small amounts until they don't.

You could use a loos gauge which will make the tensioning more scientific, these cost about 60.00 and are easy to use.

There is more info here, and if you do an internet search there is plenty more. A little word of caution, dont be aggressive with bottle screws, use proper tools that fit the spanner flats etc. and fit new split pins and wire
