Interesting you should say that. Perhaps the following little tale may also be of interest.

I recently found most of my engine oil in the bilges & discovered it had blown out of the sump via the oil extraction pipe. I was lucky not to have wrecked the engine.

I was very puzzled as the engine has good compression but the sump pressurises very readily if the crankcase breather tube is at all restricted.

Mine did'nt appear to be restricted so I replaced the piston rings (& while I was at it, the big end bearing shells) to be on the safe side. After this, the engine ran as smooth as a sewing machine, but unfortunately was still blowing out oil!

There is a little cap over the oil extraction tube which had become loose & was blowing off, so in desperation I fixed it on with a jubilee clip! So far so good, but I will be watching this carefully over the next few trips!
