I have a similar problem on my TS240 which I am in the process of fixing at the moment. I don't know the chainplate arrangement on the 501 but the 240 has a plate on the side deck which has lifted.
The TS 240 has a stainless 'tang' coming through the side deck and is bolted to a fibreglass sheathed web of marine ply.
The holes in the web have ovalled allowing movement of the whole assembly upwards by approx. 3-4mm when under load.
The current idea is to fabricate two stainless plates bonded and (extra) bolted to either side of the web to beef up the whole assembly.
Last winter the whole thing was taken apart, cleaned up, re-seated with new Sikaflex and bolted down tight, but to no avail.
Comments would be welcome from anyone with similar experience.
