As we departed Southsea in glorious sunshine we were looking forward to seeing other Trapper owners in Yarmouth. I knew that Much Ado would be there, having recieved a call from him on Friday night, already there. 16 knts gusting 21. 2 reefs in the main and not much Genny out, still 5.5knts to windward is not to be sneered at!! Just off cowes, things started to get exiting, the 16 gusting 21 became a steady 24 gusting 28, passed Black Prince (Nick Hill )heading towards Cowes and as we arrived at Beaulea Beacon solent coastguard gave the forecast, no gale warnings, no strong wind warnings, NW 3/4 gusting 5, decreasing 3. 20 minutes later we had a steady 30 knts gusting 34. Then it rained. I had thought at this point of turning back and diving in to Cowes. As we arrived at Yarmouth entrance to put away what little sail we had up, things had settled to a steady 28 knts. Southsea to Yarmouth in under 4hours. Phone call from Brad inviting us over for Cheese beer and Biscuits and a crawl over his boat. As we climbed in, Graham from Fawley appeared, wet bedragled, but enthusiastic to see company. Sunday broke with glorious sunshine and nil wind. Perhaps next time we should meet on the main land, Motorway service station?
