I was rather amused by the article in this month's YM about upgrading the deck gear on a Trapper 500. Total cost £2000+!

Most of it semed rather unnecessary to me. He replaced the winches for self tailers, but I've got those blue rubber rings that fit on top of the winch, and they do the job just as well.

He also fitted a genoa track. Black Prince obviously had one at some stage, but it was removed, and I use a block on the toe rail. I'm happy about this for a different reason: I've had problems with leaks where the shrouds go through the deck, and I wouldn't want any more load on the deck itself. I suspect it flexes too easily.

He did replace the mainsheet track, and that is something I'd like to do. Mine sticks easily, and the spring loaded pegs are beginning to come apart.

What I would like to do, and which wasn't covered in the article, is to mount some jammers on the coach roof for the halyards. Becuase of the inner lining, however, it seems almost impossible to drill through to fix them. Anyone any solutions on this?
