We dried out our 500 regularly, next to quay walls or (preferably) a small freighter.
If there was something suitable we would put a warp on the main halyard and take it out astern instead of the getting the pole muddy. Alongside the freighter (which settled the same as us) we got so overconfident we went to the pub while she dried. A loop round the mast is always recommended as it slides up the mast as the tide drops.
For antifouling we would leave a foot between us and the quay and take the spinnaker halyard out on to a pontoon.
With the spinnaker and main halyards both on you could winch her upright.
We only had the bow drop one night, no harm done except to my head. I was in the quarter berth and had to turn round when the weight on my head became too great. Everyone else was sleeping feet for'ard.
