ENOUGH ALREADY!

for those of you who REALLY REALLY want to mess about with your rudder, here's an easy way.

take one piece of thin stainless steel plate and I mean thin, little more than tin can thickness about 30/36 ins long (measure the straight part of the leading edge of your rudder) by about 10 ins wide, drill for no 8 screws 2 ins apart on both long edges, fold to about 160 degrees then screw the damn thing with 12 mm self tappers to your leading edge, leaving a gap of about 2 inches between it and the rudder

that will improve the balance of your rudder and the fold will provide enough stiffness for it to work

the only real way to improve weather helm is to move the centre of effort and you do that either by moving the mast ....... or by reducing sail!
