I believe that you would not have been the first to loose the keel. there is a write up in a very old PBO that just happens to mention that his keel in his trapper (doesnt say which one) fell off on the south coast. as I believe the 240 is the only trapper with the variable draft ability it made for interesting reading. the first he really noticed was he couldnt keep the boat going to windward NOT that it fell over.
When I replaced my box I only sheared 1 bolt and as there where another 7 holding it in place I havn't botherd getting it done. My E boats keel was only 100lb lighter but that only had 4 bolt and in effect onlt 2 where actually doing any work. These 2 where the only bolts that would break.
