Why, John? I doubt that Sula would have developed osmosis blisters within three years from construction so I am assuming this was a preventative measure - in which case it seems to have been successful. Congratulations.

Unless "generally free from osmosis" in your message implies some. I rather regard a bit of osmosis as being analogous to "a bit pregnant" - you either have it or you don't. Beachcomber has it. Again.

Beachcomber had to have treatment for mild blistering in 1987 and I observed a fresh outbreak last time I hauled out, two years ago (I antifoul every second year), so in April I will be looking closely to see if there is any spreading. If nothing dramatic I shall happily splash on the antifouling and sail blithly on; a touch of cosmetioc osmosis never sank a ship.

We've covered this ground before. I believe in David Pascoe's theory that yacht constructors cut corners with resin quality (especially following the 1973 oil crisis) and that Trappers of our vintage were classic victims, along with many others in that period.

It would appear that Sula has bucked the trend, again congratulations and I hope your deal with the potential buyer goes smoothly. Don't forget to recommend our little forum for tips.

Best, Brian.
