Thanks for your feedback

When I purchased Much Ado the surveyor was concerned about a very slight movement between the forward part of the keel and the stub of the hull when jarred sideways whilst the boat was suspended from slings. Subsequently the grp was cut back and it was found to be some choice fairing by the yard at build stage because the lead keel is some 1" thicker than the hull stub, csm had been just stuck to the gell coat!

The yard carried out proper fairing repairs as instructed by the surveyor, at the time keel bolts weren't mentioned as a problem.

When I recently had the boat lifted out there was no evidence of movement or cracking along the keel/hull joint. My concern was the front of the keel/hull joint, after two weeks of drying there was evidence of very slight dampness for about 12" along the joint back from the front of the keel. I hear this called the trapper smile.

The bilges did collect some water whilst on the mooring but not much, I suspect this was a combination of rain and a bit of seacock leakage.

I don't hear of many keels falling off except after impact and in the extreme racing community. I'm considering just checking the torque settings and living with the margin of safety ??
