When you say 'keel housing/box', do you mean the fabricated box which is bolted to the top of the cast iron keel and slides up and down the fibreglass keel housing? If so, are you sure the vendor replaced it with one made from aluminium? I would be concerned about how suitable aluminium would be for the job.
The original was made from mild steel which has prompted many owners to replace with a galvanised or stainless alternative after the original turned into bran flakes. The casting weighs over half a ton so the box was built to take some quite big loads, the bottom being three quarter inch steel plate.
It's just a pity Trapper didn't make them out of something more durable.
Other owners with engineering knowledge may have a better opinion, but I would have reservations about strength and corrosion resistance.
