I am advised by my surveyor that the chain plates need to be changed/adapted on the impending purchase, as they are a known design flaw. In this particular case the bulk head has been distorted and caused the deck to sperate from the hull. He said the work will require some 'digging out' of the deck 'grinding' and constructing installing new shaped plates to put the strains in the correct places.

If fixed properly, will this be a prob in the future? Also, the boat is solent based - where would people recommend the work being done, I'm thinking Deacons - but am keen to know if they've done a robust job in the past - apparently some T500 chain plate repairs have not been as well executed as others.

Any ideas how much any of this would cost?
