I think the 300 is a bit more sporty than the 500 but John of Star Trapper fame, based at Deacons, has a great deal of experience cruising with one.

If it's almost always going to be two of you then the 300 should be fine, it's a bit more tender than the 500 but great fun to sail.

If you want to sail 4 up then it needs to be the 500/501 for me, as I think the 300 is too small.
