I do not know anything directly about the Tohatsu but I have a 6year old twin 2 stroke Yamaha and have been really happy with it. It has taken me to Holland and back and flat out gives 6 knotts and cruising at 5.2 in a canal. this speed gives a consumprion of about 1.5 - 2 litres an hour. I do have a "sail drive"prop which was worth every penny of the £70 it cost me.On the subject of Mixing petrol, I have a little plastic cup with a Line round it at 50ml so that with a fuel can of 5 litres and a ratio of 100 - 1 then it takes the strain out of it. fill to the line and shove it in the little can before you leave port then you know you just tip the lot into main can.
I have been on a boat with a four stroke and My experience id that if its a single cylinder, I would pass, sounds just like an old SEAGULL, twin is a different story _---Beautiful-- BUT you can not just throw them in the locker. They must be stored at on the correct side as the oil drains out of the sump.I did not want the hassel. throw a 2stroke in the locker and forget it and get the rags pulling.
