Azurian's Lee shrouds go slack at the beginning of F4 or above. They didn't when I first got the boat. Heaven knows what the tension was then!! I'd have to admit my rig tension isn't as scientific as some of the other contributors but a tad tighter than some. My boat came with telescopic tubes to fit between sockets at the bottom of the chain plates and on the keel box. I have only rarely used them but presumably they are meant to overcome flexing in the hull which would tend to exaggerate the slack in the lee shrouds.

I don't notice any creaking while sailing but when below deck at anchor in a blow there is some - it used to worry me but I cannot see any movement in the chain plates and have learned to live with it.

All has been OK for a good few years now so I wouldn't worry - (hope this is not famous last w.......)
