So, rumor has it that there has been threat of a WEAC strike if the democratic candidate doesn't get elected. A couple of thoughts on this. First, that's obvious blackmail. Second, the very idea sets a horrible precendent; imagine organizations across the country doing this; no postal service is the current president isn't re-elected, etc. Personally, I would think that this tactic (a teacher's strike in Wisconsin is illegal also, I believe) would be such horrendous PR that it would surely backfire. A strike would, in my estimation, engender such anti-teacher sentiment that it would accomplish the opposite of the union's goal - it would probably result in anti-tax candidates getting elected to statewide offices and schoolboards across the state. Seems a dangerous risk to take espeically when the union's candidate is comfortably ahead in the polls!
