ERG wins Sydney transport smart card bid

Smartcard developer ERG has confirmed that its joint venture with Motorola has been named as preferred tenderer for a project to design and build a smartcard ticketing system for public transport in Sydney.

ERG did not disclose the financial details of the deal, but the Australian newspaper reported the contract could be worth around A$100 million.

ERG said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange its Integrated Transport Solutions venture expected to sign a final contract by December 31, following negotiations with the New South Wales government.
