It's bad enough RIAA is going after small children in the projects & little old ladys for downloading over-compresed, distorted, inferior than off-the-shelf music with the end, or beginning cut off.
Now I found out I'm breaking copyright laws by displaying the Superbowl on a screen larger than 50" diagonal. WTF! Is there other stuff I'm not allowed to see or let friends watch on a large screen? My DLP projectors usually project on 6'-20' screens... sometimes even a 100' white wall!
I'm not into U.S. football or the Superbowl, but most of my friends & clients are. I have the finest widescreen systems available on this side of NY state, & lease them out cheaper than you can rent a POS from anybody else. Now I find out I can get arrested for having a screen over 50"!
My digital DLP projectors cost $8,000-$15,000! Am I supposed to keep them locked in a closet except to watch Spongebob Squarepants when I'm alone, or are there Squarepants screen limits too?
I sank my life savings into video equipment for my business. I make more money on the widescreens today than any other day of the year. Every decent large telly I own is leased out today. 1 is using my 20 foot screen, another is using my 15 foot screen, & another is using my 12 foot screen. I rented out an old 52" rear projection TV too.
The only Superbowl/legal rentals are an old 50" RP TV, & a very old 48" RP TV. Why is it every time I try to earn a decent living, they pass a law against it?
Isn't the Superbowl sold out anyway so they can't sell anymore tickets? WTF difference is it gonna make or in their profits as to how big my TV is?
Too many goofy laws! Enough already!
Oh, I also downloaded about 800 songs last month. But most of them I already own. It's just convinient to have them on my HD to put on my MP3 player any way or order I want right from a computer. It's a lot easier than spending an hour programming a 100 disk changer to do it that way, or pulling out my records.
I also download movies. If I like them I'll buy them or go to the cinema to watch them.
The last 4 DVDs I bought, I watched the first half (not to ruin the end) of on downloads, liked them, & bought them.
I've got digital cable. Over 200 channels & 60 music channels. I record what I like onto SVHS or disk. I guess I'm breaking some laws there too... but I don't feel like I'm criminal, esp since 200 million others in the USA are doing the same thing.
At last check, kazaa had 3 1/2 million users currently online... sharing 4 GB of files. when sharing files, I find most users I'm sharing with are sharing over 100 to over 400 files! AMF, if I find users not sharing, I block their downloads! I do run in supernode too. So I can block many for not sharing. If you want our files, you have to share some too!
