Subject: Is a gun a phallic symbol?

I mean traditionally guys have always been the one's to use weapons for killing things. It goes back to our hunter-gatherer days where the women gathered and prepared the food, and the guys went out and killed stuff. Then you also have the general shape of the gun. A long barrel, a handle of some sort. Not only is it's purpose masculine in nature (killing things), but it's shape is unmistakably phallic.

A gun is a fucking phallic symbol!

So what does it say about all the guys who sit around studying guns. I'm talking about the guys who can name off gun models and manufacturers, qualitative analyses, facts and figures, measurements, power. Guys who collect guns for amusement. Who like cleaning their guns, so that they are always nice and shiny. Who display their guns in their homes, in the back window of their pickup trucks, who build elaborate cabinets and built-in shelves and racks so that some of their collection is always in sight. What the fuck is up with that!?!

I mean either they are stuck in this infantile fantasy stage where they derive satisfaction and meaning from their guns, or they are terrified of something, right?

Hey you can protest and shout anti-government oppression and crime stats till the cows come home, but it still doesn't change the fact that a hell of a lot of you guys get off on playing with your guns.
