• Hi Everyone! I apologize that my post is so late today, but I I've been gone and just got home a little bit ago. Last night we had Episode 16, which leaves us with only 2 Episodes left. Bummer!!! Well, let's get on with the discussion. -- KH, 00:09:02 09/29/09 Tue
  
  To start off with we had Jeremy coming home from Iraq. How nice was it to see Denise and Frank together anxiously awaiting the arrival of their son. Such a different picture from when Jeremy deployed and it was nice seeing these three as a family. I did like to hear Denise kind of calmed Frank down when in his over exuberance of Jeremy's performance reports and how great they were and that he was officer material. I liked how Denise realed him in, so to speak with "Frank, let's not push him." To me that was a gentle reminder to Frank not to go that route with Jeremy again and push him into something and to let Jeremy decide his future with the Army. The loving comment from Denise of, "Our Boy's is back," very sweet. Jeremy is definitely not ok, you can see that in his face and demeaner. I got a real sense last night from Denise how in tune with her son that she is. Her loving gesture in asking if he wanted some company on the long drive to see Mark Rison's parents. Her comment to Claudia Joy that "He seems fine but how do you know," and then "It's hard enough watching your husband go through it, it's harder watching your son." Then I could really feel it when Denise's questions Frank, "Do you really think he's ok?" You can just feel from Denise that she knows all is not well with her son and she's not buying that it's just a mother worrying. I'm not sure that Frank is seeing the whole picture though in thinking that Jeremy is just fine. It was nice seeing more of Jeremy this evening, we haven't seen a whole lot of him this season and I must say he has turned into a fine young actor. His scenes tonight were very touching, especially the one where he goes to see Rison's parents. And the scene at the end, things are definitely not right with Jeremy. Denise, keep pushing because your mother's intuition is right on the money!
  
  Joan deployed tonight and I understood why she wanted to say her goodbyes at home instead of at the airfield. She needed to keep her command presence in front of her troops and didn't want to break down leaving her family. How touching was it to see Roland wipe away a tear when Joan was saying goodbye to Sara Elizabeth. Oh my gosh, my heart just broke. I was glad to hear Roland express to the tribe at the cookout that he understood why Joan needed to say goodbye at home. And how cute was it that Denise said that Sarah Elizabeth had 4 more mama's there to take care of her...LOL...Too Cute! Little Sara Elizabeth took ill and I'm glad it wasn't anything too serious (Can I also just reiterate how darn cute that little baby is...LOL). And how hard for Roland to not let Joan know what was going on with her daughter to keep her from worrying. It all worked out and she got to go home the next day.
  
  Not alot of Claudia Joy and Michael last night, but it was nice to see some others get some much deserved air time. I did enjoy hearing Claudia Joy explain to Michael why sometimes the spouses at home don't tell the soldiers what's always going on at home and that isn't it their job to make sure that they keep the soldiers focuse and ready and how hard it is to manage things while your partner is gone. I was glad to hear Michael at least acknowledge that because the soldiers can't have it all their way.
  
  Trevor ran into some difficulties with Kanessa joining up due to family obligations, but it all worked out and she is off to basics. The young gal playing Kanessa is quite a talented actress. And Roxy found out that just because Trevor is home, he'll still be putting in long hours and can get called away in the middle of things. Another thing for Roxy to get used to.
  
  Pamela and Chase...what can I say. These two are having a tough time and are really not in a good place. I understand Chase being in Delta Force, he is not allowed to tell Pamela what goes on, but I totally feel for and understand where Pamela is coming from. I loved how after she blew up at him for not coming to the pool and going home instead, she apologized later and explained to him, she understood his dilema, but this is how she feels. I'm not happy at all with Chase right now, because I agree with Pamela how easy it is for Chase to lie and that it just roles off his tongue. I don't understand at all why Chase had to lie to her about what he was going to do instead of explaining to her where he was going. And then to come home and elaborate on that lie just doesn't set well with me. I truly felt for Pamela last night and her hurt and frustration. I have a feeling these two are in for a really bumpy ride and alot of turmoil.
  
  Next weeks previews look interesting. We have alot of turmoil and some anger and hurt feelings it looks like with some added golf competition. From the episode synopsis it sounds like Denise turns into quite the golf shark...LOL. So once again, eventhough there are only 2 Episodes left I'll end with Bring on the Next Episode!

  • Hi Twinny! Glad you got back safe & sound! It sure was fun being able to watch last night's episode with you! My feelings are a little torn. Its hard for me to explain, but I feel that something is lacking here with the show. I miss the show being about Army Wives! Sorry, but it was never supposed to be about the Army itself, nor were the spouses (military) supposed to be so doggone prevalent. I feel that I'm watching a show about the Army and the soldiers, since so much time is being devoted to them every episode. I'm sorry but I don't need to see Frank or Joan or Chase or Trevor or even Michael in every single episode. Its about the wives and their friendship, their trials & tribulations, they are the focus, not the soldiers. It seems almost as the wives' (spouses) have taken a back seat, and its just not the same.   • I like the episode very much. Besides its a nice break from the wives angst all the time. A bit of background into the men is also good for the audience and character development.   • Great review KH. i really feel for the Moran.s Chase went through something terrible. Delta put him back together. They helped him with the physican and mental pain and right now he is feeling totally dependent on their staff. i know pam is feeling so left out and wanting to be a part of it but she can't. She knew this when she married into the military. My son goes away and does things and we know a lot he can never talk with us about. that is just the way it is. i hope they will get chase back grounded in his home and family and the Morans can work it out. Great ep. i was sure Joan was not going to deploy for some reason but i was wrong. this is good for people to see what happens and hope different family's deal with it.   • YEAH, you're back. Once again I love your posts so much and I too liked the show. And you are sooooo right man is Denise every in tune with her boy. You can just feel that she knows something ain't right. I saw a hint of the old Frank in this episode and I was like-oh no not again. He just doesn't have a clue where his son is concerned and he may live to regret it. For me there was too much Trevor and the young girl he was enlisting, I would have rather seen more of Jeremy and Denise talking because these two are so close and connected. I was happy there wasn't so much CJ tonight because I'm a bit tired of her. Pam and Chase are in trouble aren't they and I agree with you too that they've got some tough stuff ahead.   • Hiya KH! Gots to see this eppy this afternoon, & have been waiting for your quarterbacking. Gots to agree with Katie on Frank. Work in a bar & grill, & to me it was like Frank was sayin' that a beer was gonna just make all of Jeremy's pain go away. Jeremy is a man & can have a beer, & just seemed to kinda blow off the fact that Jeremy's bud had died. Didn't Jeremy take Mark's place on foot & let Mark ride? Maybe Jeremy is feelin' guilty cause he's still alive? Dunno, once again Frank has no idea what his kid is about. D-girl does, & hope Jeremy gets some help.   • Do you also notice that last night's theme was secrecy? Jeremy is holding out on his parents,Chase is the same with Pam and then Roland with Joan. Michael also finds out there were might have been many home dramas he didnt know about.LOL! Im the side of Chase though.They are not bad guys but jobs of Delta,CIA,many Special forces guys are shrouded in top secrets.Im not an expert on them but I watch many History channels and Discovery channels on Special Ops so how they act esp with their buddies is how it is.       • Im not condoning Chase lying about target shooting with his buddies but we still dont know the whole truth and what's going on with him.That's not resolve yet.We all know in shows and in live everyone can be a jerk and make mistakes and so do the guys in this show even the women.         • I think its only natural that Chase is going to have some pyschological problems from being tortured. And yes Pamela needs to understand this, and not push him on it. But Pamela told Chase she understands him wanting some alone time, and she wasn't begrudging him that. It was the way he went about it, lying to her. Chase has always been self-absorbed, from the beginning. When Pamela got the money for the surrogacy and wanted to pay her father back first, Chase was all miffed that he had to give back HIS truck and HIS bigscreen TV...when they moved into the new house Chase was all pissy because his recliner wasn't in the position that HE wanted it in, then he made the very rude comment to Pamela that HE earns the money, just demeaning her and her contributions to their marriage. Pamela doesn't put up with Chase's crap, unlike Denise who did put up with Frank's (now she's standing on her two feet) and I'm sure the Moran's will work through things. Chase needs to stop lying. She expressed to me Sunday night that while she loves the show and liked the episode, she has found it lacking as of late. She said she can't quite put her finger on it, but something is missing.       • Hi KH, Hi Mom, LOL. Thanks for the feedback. Just wanted to add with respect to Frank's comment at the BBQ, as stark as the statement was it rang true as to the whole experience of being a soldier. Just as with any high risk field ie a health professional losing a patient, a racing car driver in his first crash etc. it is kind of a rite of passage that one would rather not experience but it quickly brings home the full extent of one's profession. On a side note, read that TS is in Afghanistan, so a shout out to him. A reviewer wrote the actors really seem proud of their show, what it represents and appear to truly enjoy each other's company. I think that it is really evident in their work and is an added plus for AW. Can't wait to see your comments next week. AW is not the only thing I'll be missing in a few weeks.         • But it also shows IMHO that Frank has NO CLUE who Jeremy is as a person. I read over on Lifetime's board one of the moderators made a comment that Jeremy was trying hard not to disappoint dear old Dad, where Frank can be an a** and strut around like a peacock. The reality is Jeremy never wanted to be a soldier, and part of Jeremy's anger problems I think were directly related to trying to live up to Frank's very demanding expectations. Jeremy does have a sensitive side, something Frank doesn't, and Frank just seems oblivious to the pain that Jeremy is feeling and has taken the attitude "well he's a soldier now..."           • Sorry Jennifer Frank is not responsible for all things bad. Even though he was disappointed with Jeremy's decision not to attend West Point he sat down with his son, thanked him for looking after his Mom while he was gone and took an interest in what it was Jeremy wanted to do. It was only AFTER he found out about the beatings of his wife that he went ballistic. Addressing your comment about men showing weakness, well if that is how he really felt, he would have never reconnected with his wife. It certainly did not make him look like a tough he-man to take his wife back after her betrayal. I'm sure Michael viewed it as being weak. Sooner or later Jeremy will have to take responsiblilty for his own actions. When Frank asked what was his friend's name was, showed him validating his friend's worth.             • He chose the Army because his father threw him out of the house, despite the fact that his wife Denise didn't want that, and then proceeded to tell his wife that his only child was DEAD to him. Jeremy joined the Army because thanks to Frank, he had no where to turn, and Denise wasn't strong enough to make Frank respect her feelings on the issue. Was Jeremy wrong for hitting his mother?                 • Hey Jennifer, I acknowledge Frank has faults but c'mon sometimes sharing a beer with your son is just that. Was Jordanna right ? Of course not. The event probably made Frank more aware of how easy was to be tempted when your marriage is in a bad place. I too strongly feel he should fess up. He was not keen to hear about Mac as he would probably feel obligated to own up to his own indescretion, which he should still admit to. No matter how much of a harda$$ a Dad is, most sons would not turn around and BEAT their Moms. That DEAD comment was a horrible thing to say, something said in the heat of extreme anger and disappointment. It rankled me too but did you notice how emotional Frank got when Amanda showed him pictures of his son at boot camp? He did not look like the proud Father that his son was in the Army. He looked emotionally sad IMHO. Disagreement is fine. I'm sure you'll continue to point out his flaws and I will do the same re his plusses. 'Till next time, LOL!         • LOL...Jubellant I have to tell you, my mom doesn't have a computer, but when she visits she has me log on to the site and she reads it...LOL. She knows I love the show and I got her hooked on it as well. Now every week after the episode we talk about it and she knows that I write my little post. Now every week she calls me on Mondays and asks, "so what did everyone have to say"...LOL. Now she's gotten bolder and told me to add comments for her too.     • Trevor may have been a lil annoying but he made a difference. Its what Kanessa wants too.It made me wonna cry seeing her little nephew saluting with her too and their hugs for her when she left.I can relate to stories like this because that saying goes good always prevails over evil.I believe that but it breaks my heart to see good people suffer so much while bad people get away with many things.I also see that with soldiers that are really good people getting killed. • Well Good Afternoon Everyone! We had Episode 15 last night which was the 1940's Throwback theme. What a Wonderful Episode and so well done and truly enjoyable. What did you all think? -- KH, 19:48:52 09/21/09 Mon
  I always enjoy a well done AU Episode and this one definitely did not disappoint. You could really feel the air of the 1940's throughout the whole episode, from the way they dressed, talked, carried themselves etc. And the whole segregation issue really showed how far we've come from that time and how awful it had to be back then. If you get a chance, go over to the Lifetime site, they have 2 videos of behind the scenes for this 1940's Episode, and they are always interesting to hear what they have to say. We got to see the cast in different roles with different names and in a completely different era. I have to say that I truly enjoyed the 2 actresses who played the older Virginia and the older Elsie. They are really wonderful actresses and always bring something unique to each role they play. On a side note, when the actress who played the older Elsie came on screen I was like, "Hey that's Sookie's Grandmother...LOL. (From True Blood the First Season). Anyway back to the show...
  
  We had Hazel (whose name I kinda got a snicker out of because I thought her name was going to be Barbara...LOL, who was a WASP and her husband Dale who couldn't fly anymore so he owned and ran a bar. How's that for a role reversal for you...LOL. We had Virginia/Roxy more timid and shy, the complete opposite of Roxy...LOL and her husband Worth/Trevor who was pretty much like Trevor only higher in rank than all the rest. Loraine/Claudia Joy was a factory worker who was a bit more loose than her counter part but other than that she was had alot of Claudia Joy's qualities. Her hubby Warren/Michael was injured right when he got there and had to come home to a desk job. And Elsie/Pamela (another name I had to snicker at...LOL, was a spitfire just like Pamela and Paul/Chase was a little more layed back than his alter ego. And then we had Calvin/Roland and Lois/Joan showing us the tough times African Americans went through in that time in their everyday life and military life. A bit of a role reverasal for these two as well. Calvin/Roland was more like Joan is today Lois/Joan was more the Roland of today, the voice of reason.
  
  The storyline was fun, loving, sad and bittersweet. It was very well done and I truly enjoyed it. One of the 2 deaths was unexpected. I thought for sure it would be two of the soldiers, but one turned out to be Dale. I sure didn't see that coming. I really enjoyed the scene between Dale and Calvin at the bar when Dale sold Calvin a beer for 5 cents and then they toasted each other and shared a drink, very touching.
  
  I thought it was so fun how they incorporated the "Hump Bar" into this episode and even had Betty there. What a cool touch to have Roxy have "that" bar now and that Betty was like a mother to her. And how the 1940's Hump Bar was their hangout back then like it is for the Tribe today...LOL, what fun.
  
  And I just loved how they did the ending by telling us during the memorial what each one of the characters went on to do after. Calvin a teacher/mentor, Loraine becoming an advicate and setting up programs, Virginia and Worth leaving the military and Elsie moving on but never remarrying and of course Hazel falling in love with Africa and becoming a barnstorming bush pilot. Then seeing the Tribe of today going to look for the memorial placard standing where the older generation stood before them. And walking away to hear the story from Roxy and Pamela.
  
  Again just a Wonderfully Done and Touching Episode. Well done Cast and Crew! Now we move on to next week where I believe Jeremy comes home and from the looks of the additional previews we've got plenty more drama to come. So while it's bittersweet with only 3 Episodes left, once again I say bring on next week!

  • KH thanks again for these wonderful reviews. The hourglass is definitely running a little too fast on this show. I thought this was a fabulous episode. The look, feel, and events were so true to the times. One of those scenes really hit home. Hazel killed in uniform and that twinkle in her eyes at the beach scene, too cute. Dale what an honorable man, he sure could have used some reviving this week. If they ever did a forties movie the whole cast should audition because they nailed it. This is the most compelling ensemble on tv today. Sundays will not be the same when they go on hiatus. Seeing Dale die and Hazel's reaction was hard to take. Good thing it was not Frank. It was hard seeing Joan as Lois in such a submissive position. Pamela as Elsie was spot on she sort of reminded me of Katherine Hepburn when she played the tough reporter.   • This episode was amazing, i loved it, it was so much better than i was expecting! Brigid was excellent in it, i was glad to see her get a good storyline (even if it wasn't as Pamela!!) Wendy and Sterling were wonderful, although it was hard to watch. I gasped at the scene with Dale and Hazel, it was so sad, and i agree i'm just glad it wasn't a Frank and Denise storyline!!! Not many episodes to go now, i will really miss it, this season is most definatly the best so far!! And i have a feeling we are going to be left with a shocker of a cliffhanger for the finale!!!   • Last night's AW makes me say again that this show is a gem in TV.It was classic tv and classic Hollywood because truth be told stories like that are so ignored today by society and by audiences.I like that AW while not perfect is not afraid to stand up to great morals and values. Most of all a show that's thankful to be an American unlike many stars today also shows and movies that gets busy putting down and hating America right and left. I love Paul's speech. Made me cry.   • It was a very well done episode, and something that the whole cast/crew should be proud of. Have been reading some comments other places about this episode, and how so many are upset because it did highlight an ugly fact in America. You can't run and hide from history, and as ugly as it was it needs to be remembered so we never ever go back to that way again. The only minor complaint I have is that I would've loved to of actually seen Hazel do some flying. That would've been awesome! Loved the tie in with "dimples" being Betty, The scene where we find out its Paul, not Werth who has been killed in action and Elsie's reaction was just so sad.   • It was beautiful all around. Powerful acting and I can tell the cast and crew had a ball. I hope AW makes more of this. Lifetime online ppl dont represent the majority of people who loved this episode.Many critics even loved it. I love AW for painting the truth but also balanced stories of America both the bad but more of the good side.This few naysayers should be appalled if I list programs and movies that really bash America and our soldiers.If AW is ugly to them they will have a heartattack with stuff they are not seeing.Goes to show they saw so little from Hollywood.
