Hallmark's "Countdown To Halloween" Has Special Treats For Viewers For Halloween Weekend
September 18, 2009 12:58 p.m. EST

New York, NY (CNS) - Hallmark is kicking off Halloween with a special treat for viewers to help celebrate the holiday. The special and movies will combine Halloween haunts with some of the world's most decorated skaters and musical performances.

On Friday, October 30 at 8:00 pm, Hallmark will kick off the weekend with "Halloween on Ice." The special will include Olympic medalists Nancy Kerrigan, Todd Eldredge, Elvis Stojko, British Champion Steven Cousins and Israeli Champion Tamar Katz. Musical legend Chip Davis and his band Mannheim Steamroller will provide the music.

***Hallmark will feature a Halloween double feature of Catherine Bell in "The Good Witch" and "The Good Witch's Garden." Bell stars as the mysterious Cassie Nightingale whose mysterious charms have an entire town under her spell. The movies will air on Saturday, October 31 at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.***

  - Perfect Picture of the Week Rebel...especially with this picture from the upcoming new Army Wives Episode this Sunday. I think it's Awesome that she is Barbara the Pilot in this Episode, how fun is that. I wonder if Catherine has been able to keep up with getting her pilots license on hiatus here, because I'm sure it would be hard to do while filming the show. Jubes we gotta talk. i have been out of the ER about 5 years so maybe a lot has changed. RT Denise and her EMTing. When did a sternal rub get into CPR? She assertained the lungs wereclear but has not listened. checked pupils before V/S and said pupils dilated bilaterally. this is bad not good. As for the lungs being clear I wondered if she had developed x-ray vision as she assessed them without auscaltation.There seems to be some changes to CPR since my last refressher course. Good Day Everyone! I'm sorry I'm a little late today with my post, I've been gone and just got back. After a week off for the holiday we are back on schedule with Episode 13. So let's get started. -- KH, 22:42:28 09/14/09 Mon

Once again we'll start with Denise...not a whole lot of Denise tonight but it was fun to see her pursuing her new career choice. It seems she was a little nervous about her first ride to meet her 500 hour requirement to be certified as a paramedic and was reviewing and practicing on Frank. Frank seemed to be having fun being Denise's guinea pig, and was helping her to relax a bit and she realized she's got the skills and can do the job. And as it turned out she passed with flying colors, but we all knew she would from the start right...LOL. Jeremy lost his best friend to a sniper and not only is he deeply saddened, but I have a feeling he's going to be going through misplaced guilt/survivors guilt for switching places with him. I was glad to see he called home to his Mom and Dad to tell them what happened and for some love and support. He's coming home in a week, and he'll be dealing with losing his best friend while he's at home. He'll definitely be needing that love and support of his family to get him through.

It was nice to see Claudia Joy finally come to grips with her diabetes. I understand that it's definitely a shock to be diagnosed with something such as Type II diabetes, but have to say imho that she's been a bit over the top about it being that I have a sister and some friends with this disease. It was nice to see her apologize to Michael for the way she's been acting and asked for time to be sad. I have to say that I really liked what Michael had to say to her to take all the time she needed, but not to push away the people that love her, which she has been doing. I think the young hockey girl (Kristin was her name I believe) really put it out there for Claudia Joy and brought her back. And it was nice to hear her acknowledge Denise for her efforts, but it took the young girl to bring it home.

Roxy had mixed feelings and some concerns about having a child with Trevor and she voiced these concerns with Pamela. And it looks like Roxy and Trevor will be trying for an addition to their family. Trevor did his job not giving up on Kanessa and it was a smart move to bring Joan in for a little reinforcement. I think Joan was someone Kanessa could relate to with similar backgrounds growing up and what the Army had to offer Joan and what it did for her and how successful she is. I cracked up when Sarah Elizabeth spit up on Roland and he passed her off to Roxy. And when Roxy said she smelled ripe and Roland told her where the diapers were and Roxy said that it was typical for men to leave when a dirty diaper needs changin...LOL. I can relate, my hubby used to always have an excuse not to change our daughters diapers when they were small...LOL...Too Funny!

Not alot of Roland and Joan tonight but we found out that Joan will be deploying next week. You could see that reality was really setting in for Joan tonight. I think it is going to be a very emotional deployment for Joan this time, more so than her past deployments.

Well Chase was badly hurt in a supposed helicopter crash. Pamela was genuinely relieved but concerned and is very happy that he'll at least be home for six weeks. Pamela talked with the kids and forewarned them that there Dad was hurt in a helicopter crash and that he had a broken leg and bruises etc. But it was very obvious that the reality of seeing him was a whole different story. You could just see that they were shocked by the reality of what his injuries were and just wanted to know from him that he was really ok. And then at the end we find out that Chase was more than likely captured and tortured instead of in a helicopter crash. And we all know Pamela, she is not going to let his explaination stand and will dig for more. Wow, all the Army Wives are amazing, but to be married to someone in Delta Force and all the secrets, wow I just don't know folks. I think the Morans are in for some bumpy roads ahead and we'll have to see how things go.

It was fun to finally see the previews for the throwback episode that was posted to show on the 20th. I think we are all in for alot of fun and intereting and touching moments. This looks like it's going to be amazing and I'm really looking forward to it. So once again I'll finish with Bring on Next Week!

- Hope the holiday was good KH and thanks again for this. I'm really enjoying the Frank/Denise scenes (surprise, surprise) :)! Liked how Frank lightened the tone without diminishing her desire to be the best. Pleased how the Sherwoods addressed their son's unspoken issues as unified parents and how Frank brought him back to what he needed to do as a soldier and how Denise softened things as a loving parent with Frank reinforcing that as well. Loved that someone was there to comfort Denise for a change and how Frank beckoned his wife towards him, to engulf her in a big hug. I feel for Pamela as she was in law enforcement and can clue into situations that just don't ring true. I am sure she also knows a lot more about situations than she is given credit for.   - HI Jubellant, I think your comments on the Sherwoods is spot on. I too picked up on how both Denise and Frank were unified when talking with Jeremy. With Denise showing therturing parent and Frank trying to get Jeremy to focus on being a soldier and his job while he is over there, to stay safe and keep his head. Denise was definitely the nurturer asking how Jeremy himself was doing. It was very nice to see these two unified and working together as a loving caring team/family. And I totally agree, it was so nice to finally have Frank there for Denise to give her the comfort and reassurance she needed. She was visibly upset by the phone call and Frank picked up on that and went to her to give her comfort and she in turn gave him comfort and reassurance as well. (NT) -- KH, 01:15:41 09/15/09 Tue

  - Sometimes it is not always about the money. Maybe she wants a fresh start in a new direction. Probably taking into account what Roland said about men being visual, Frank's reaction to her bike post affair, and these experiences would be limited to one time events reducing any tendency to get overly involved with cases.   - I actually thought that Madge's reaction was more because Claudia Joy refused her offering, not because Denise took it. Madge knew Claudia Joy was in charge of the event and wanted her to taste her cake. But you could be right too, and yeah Denise will probably continue to be punished while of course Frank will never have to answer for his.       - Hey Fiona! How are you? Like I told Jubes last week, I'm kinda/sorta watching. My Twinny (KH) told me gosh I think it was the ep in which Roland knocked the girls down a few pegs with their treatment of Denise, that I needed to watch as the ship was being righted as she put it. I'm not as gung ho as I once was, because honestly I just do not like Frank or the actor who plays Frank, & he is a major turn off for me. Of course I love Catherine's acting, she just gets better & better. So I'm kinda watching for know, but if the writers continue sweeping all of Frank's misdeeds under the rug then I'll probably tune out again. I know you will not feel right until Frank is held accountable for his contribution to the initial demise of their marriage. Sure we have our little tiffs from time to time, what family doesn't, and I can tell you from experience that no one has ever hated or been "mean" because of a different opinion. I should know, because most don't agree with my assessment of the Frank character LOL! But we have a great group of people here, and am glad you and any other new posters who want to join in, feel comfortable in posting. - CB would excel in any role she tackled. Hollywood's loss is my gain. I enjoy seeing her talents on a weekly basis with the additional bonus treat of tv movies thrown in. IMHO CB has a real presence. Every scene she is in just lights up the screen. CB does not need the Hollywood machine. Her work speaks for itself, her fan base continues to grow and her work gets repeated air time and fantastic ratings. Her fans love and appreciate her. Other stars may reap all the gossip and hollywood exposure and land certain undeserved roles and deliver easily forgotten performances, but CB delivers the goods. Her work ages well and you enjoy repeat viewings as much as the first time you saw it if not more as there are always certain nuances you may have missed the first time around. I can't wait for her upcoming movies. I still would love to see her in a fun romantic comedy. Good Morning Everyone! Well we had Episode 13 last night and what did you all think. We had something from each one of the famililies last night. And of course with the Holiday Weekend next week we'll have to sit on our hands in anticipation until the 13th of September. With that said, let's get started. -- KH, 18:59:06 08/31/09 Mon

Denise and Frank continue to refind each other and fall in love all over again. I know I've mentioned my feelings before on thinking Denise was going to be doing something again in nursing, and with my post below it was confirmed, it was nice to hear it voiced this week. I think Denise will be an amazing paramedic and like she said it will give her the opportunity to help and give back. It was nice to see Frank supportive and encouraging. I have to give Frank some props here because he actually learned something from the problems that he and Denise have gone through. He learned that he has to let go of his controlling and ways and let Denise have a life of her own outside the home. In the past he's always tried to control her and what she did and was insensitive to her wants and needs. I think he is realizing that is what Denise was lacking from him in their marriage before and he doesn't want that to happen again. And I think he's doing it in Frank fashion, with him being a man of limited communications skills...LOL, he's basically saying he's learned from what he did wrong before and doesn't want to repeat his mistakes again. He is realizing now that Denise needs to do something for herself as well to be happy and not just take care of the family. I was so glad to hear that Denise had already looked into being a paramedic and what it entailed, so now she can go for it! So good for Frank! It was also nice to hear Michael voice his concern for how Denise was doing and also giving her much needed praise for what she did. And also telling Frank that Denise is way to modest and that she saved Claudia Joy's life. It was truly nice to see the pride on Frank's face and also another bit of a lightbulb moment for him with Michaels words. Michael seems to be Frank's lightbulb this season...LOL, so keep those moments coming Michael, you're doing wonders for Frank. I think that Denise and Frank are on a honeymoon right now, but I have a feeling that soon here real life/on reel life...LOL, is going to intervene in the upcoming weeks with their son. But that's reality isn't it, I hope that these two can continue to work together and get stronger even with and during any bumps in the road they come across. I'm still waiting for something from Frank though, but I don't know if I'm going to get it...LOL, we'll have to continue to wait and see.

Pamela was really concerned about why Chase wasn't home yet when he was supposed to be home 2 weeks ago. I think the black notification car passing by down the street really sent everything home to her and pushed all of her worries and concerns to the forefront. And her intuition about knowing something wasn't right really kicked in and like a dog with a bone, she wasn't going to let up until she got answers. And answers she got, when at the end the took her back to Chase.

Trevor got started on being a recruiter last night. Now this just may be me, but I have a feeling this job isn't going to be enough for him. I have a feeling he isn't going to be fulfilled and will want to get back with his unit down the road. And that's not negating the job itself, it's just that I don't see it being fulfilling for Trevor, he'll want more hands on action. I don't know it's just a feeling I have. When Trevor suggested to the young man that he and his fiance go to dinner with him and Roxy last night I had to snicker and say uh-oh...LOL. We all know Roxy and she's going to say it like she feels it without holding back. I do have to say that I agreed with her though the next morning when she and Trevor were talking. Roxy said she didn't tell her anything that wasn't true but yet she didn't tell her everything. When she was telling Trevor about Pamela's concern for Chase and Trevor says, "Chase is fine until the Army says otherwise." I liked how Roxy replies "Oh come on Trevor, I know you're a recruiter now, but that doesn't mean you have to drink the kool-aid." And when Trevor wants to know what she means she replys, "It means the Army never tells you anything it doesn't want you to hear, just like you apparently." In other words Trevor, do your job, but be honest and truthful about it and don't sugarcoat it. Roxy doesn't always get it or say the right thing, but she does actually have a good grasp on things and gets it. And she's not afraid to say it how it is and how she feels. I think this was a lightbulb moment for Trevor too, because he was much more the real Trevor with the young runner/girl who came in to see him. As far as the soldier Cappi who Trevor is working with, I'd be happy to loan out my 2x4 to Trevor for giving him an adjustment...LOL.

Boy, Claudia Joy sure was testy last evening. Just about everyone was feeling her mood from poor Emmalynn who was only trying to do something good for her, to Michael with concern and questions and emphasizing he's learning right along with her to her bestfriend Denise who got her head bit off for suggesting she should be resting. Once again Claudia Joy was lucky that Denise was there to save her in her time of need. I think Denise is Claudia Joy's own personal guardian angel...LOL. Denise was so right when she calmly explained to her how important it was to not skip her meals and check her glucose levels and monitor her diet especially once she's injected the insulin. Otherwise the results will be what she had that morning. Denise was also right in repectfully explaining to Claudia Joy that it's a big mistake not to tell her friends about it because it's dangerous, that people need to know in case you get into trouble again. Claudia Joy got a bit testy with her again. I still think Claudia Joy is quite stubborn and acting a bit over the top on this issue. Hopefully she'll listen to Denise and tell her friends down the road so people will know what to do if she has a problem.

The comic relief last night was definitely Roland and Joan. Roland had such a romantic evening planned for he and Joan. Who knew that he had gotten a hold of bad oysters. Oh my gosh, have any of you had food poisoning, it's the pits and 10 times worse than the flu. Both of them getting hit with it at about the same time and hopefully they had more than one bathroom. I cracked up when Roland said to Joan, "I'll pay you 50 bucks to go get that baby"...LOL. And Joan saying, "This tile is so cool, this tile is my friend, my only friend."...LOL. Oh man, too funny. I will say that I'm surprised that when Roland called Denise he didn't ask her to come and take the baby because those two were in no condition to take care of her...LOL. I bet they never eat oysters again or at least for a very very long time...LOL.

Well we've got next week off so we have to wait until the 13th of September for a new episode. I'm not too bummed about that because I'll be gone for the long weekend so I won't miss it. They gave us a good sized variety of future episode previews so we'll have to wait and see how things progress. From the previews it looks like Jeremy might be losing his good friend in Iraq and this will in turn cause some problems and emotional issues for Jeremy. I'm really enjoying this Season and can't wait for.

Well I hope Everyone enjoyed this weeks Episode and I know I'll be anxiously anticipating the new one on the 13th.

Given the type of dude that he was, for 20 odd years of being in control & domineering a dude like him isn't going to change at the snap of your fingers. This is about D'girl's being a paramedic. It was super to see Frank support this, but for him to bring it up wasn't realistic to me. The only thing I'll add is that CJ is really getting to annoy me, with her stubborness and crabbiness. Like a few have said here, it's way over the top and get real little miss perfect. While Roxy can bug me sometimes I had to agree with her last night and laughed out loud when they were all out for dinner. Leave it to her to lay it all out there, hahaha. The only thing I will add to the Denise and Frank bit is that Frank has changed entirely too fast which makes it unbelievable. - My Twinny told me that I should start watching again, so I did; after all the Denise bashing ended. Have watched a couple of episodes, and I have to concur with a couple of the posters that Frank's sudden and rapid change is not logical, consistent or quite frankly, believable. Its almost comical, no offense intended, and I believe insulting to the viewers intelligence to believe that a man like Frank could change in the blink of an eye. After being a set and certain way for all those years, for him to change without any progression and at lightening quick pace, not even gradual just is illogical. - Denise went from being a devoted wife and mother upset by Roland's cheating to someone whose values went out the window. She had an emotional then physical affair because she was "confused". She was set to play house with Mac before he dumped her. Suddenly she rediscovers her love for Frank. Her turnaround is just as unrealistic as Frank's. Everyone sees Denise as multidimension but IMHO Frank is layered too. As a part time character we only got to see glimpses of his kinder gentler moments. He may go off half cocked but he was capable of backtracking too. Frank felt a deep loss when he realized Dee was no longer going to be a part of his life. I believe change is possible. A major wakeup call can occur if you truly care about something. As CJ said to Michael, what about compassion? One often mellows with age so Frank, keep up the great effort.     - Hey Jennifer nice to have you back? AW writing has been all over the map. I may be filling in my own version subliminally who knows. I just know I like where these two are at now whether the journey has been completely credible or not. I think TS is just so expressive with his aha moments and I love how TS and CB interact with each other. So I am once again in the minority but hey it makes for a good debate. Definitely on the same page as you and Bernice as I await CB's new projects though. I love her acting and love it when there is a mini CB marathon listing with TGW, TGWG, SSV, SVU, JAG, AW, The Triangle etc. The best thing is that the movies will be 2 hrs worth. - I think problem with the Sherwood characters, in particular, is the exceedingly poor writing of those characters by last year�s writers, which this year�s writers are trying to �undo�. Last year�s writers wrote in Soap Opera and episodic fashion with the guest star having a big problem that is neatly fixed (mainly by CJ�s intervention) by the end of the show, with the evil Lt. Col. and wife plaguing the tribe. Thankfully, the show changed direction, but the writers are trying to clean up the mess as quickly as they can so they can get back to solid characters and good scripts.         Did Frank ever apologize to Denise for him telling her that their son is DEAD to him? What a horrible thing to say about your child, especially to the mother of that child. Frank needs to, for me (I echo my Twinny on this) verbally apologize to Denise & flat out tell her he was wrong and he too is sorry. Its just too convenient that Frank's actions and the hurtful things he's done are being forgotten about, while all the focus is on Denise. Until the writers do this with Frank, he is terminally ill LOL LOL LOL!       - KH as usual, you make many valid points. Frank came off as a domineering bully but underneath it all I just always felt there was an underlying vulnerability about him. Sort of like this was how he was taught to be rather than who he really was. He was always saying in his childhood home they didn't do this or that and IMO that is why he ran his own home that way. I think Frank is growing more into his true self and not his father's expectation of who he should be. He looks happier, not so uptight and rigid, or like he is sucking on a sour lemon. We may never hear his apology and for all we know it might have been covered in those counselling sessions we were never privy to see.         Hi Jubellant! I had to laugh at your "sucking on a sour lemon" remark...LOL. I do agree with you that he does look happier and more relaxed as of late. That was an additional part of my problem with Frank for the first 2 Seasons, not only was he stern, controlling and inflexible, he always looked so pissed off and uptight. Add these qualities to the way he treated his wife and son and you have imho an unlikeable end result. And while I agree with you that at times actions can speak louder than words, the words are needed as well to back up the actions. The words are the main ingredient for communication with actions and expression to back up and reinforce the words. You can't have a good relationship without communication and words are needed for that healthy communication in a relationship.         The whole "actions speak louder than words" at times is such a cop-out. It takes a big person, a strong person, to look someone in the eye and actually tell them "I'm sorry." Just like that whole never apologize its a sign of weakness crap. For one to apologize indicates a stronger person, one who is willing to admit fault & admit they were wrong. Again, so far nothing from Frank that he gets he was wrong. He's is taking the cowards' way out by NOT saying the words, & also with his refusal to admit his dalliance with Jordanna. In this case, Frank needs to say the words too, if this really is a changed Frank he'd better be able to look his wife in the eye and tell her that he's sorry.         How many times have people said they are sorry then revert right back to the same behaviour that got them in the situation in the first place? Ideally it might be nice to hear the words as well, but maybe that is not Frank's strength. We all have our weak points, but at least he is showing Denise in his own way that he really is trying not to repeat past mistakes. When he gave Dee the balloons he said he knew he was hard on her about going back to work but he was really proud of her. Sorry does not seem to be in his vocabulary and action Frank seems to me more in tune with his character than a total swallow your pride and admit you were wrong Frank would be (though it would be nice to see him be able to do that). Hi all...just received my new TV issue and on Page 10 there's a small article entitled "Army Wives - '40s Flashback." The flashback episode airs September 20th, and there are a few episode pictures of the cast in their 1940s costumes. CB appears in a military uniform in one and in flight gear sitting in the cockpit of a yellow plane in another!! Bring back any JAG memories?! Looks to be a great episode.
