  As many of you may remember from way back when I was active in the JAG fandom, I work for AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Service). The show recently filmed scenes at the Charleston Base Exchange (Corinne posted earlier about them filming on base). Well, the AAFES employee magazine has a cover story about the show filming at the BX. There are no pictures of Catherine - the photo on front of the mag is Kim Dellany and the actress who plays her daughter Amanda, but Catherine (whose name is misspelled as Katherine by the PAO who wrote the article) is quoted in the article. Also, the family of a friend and former coworker (we served in Germany together at AAFES' Europe HQ back in the late 90s) served as extras in the show. I'm at work now, so I'll post the article itself when I get home and can scan it in. Also, I have a PDF of the entire magazine, which I can send if you e-mail me privately, or I can get copies of the magazine itself if someone wants one.

  Just got back from dinner, we went downtown to a place called Sticky Fingers and had some ribs. Back at the hotel now, and I'd say its a pretty good bet all of us are tired and are going to be hitting the sack early.
  
  What can I add? I don't know, it all seems so reduntant, when you use the same adjectives to describe Catherine's personality and generosity. You've heard it all before, but it really is sooooooo true.
  
  Do I have a story? Hmmm, let me think...I missed the comments about the 2nd ravine, as yes I was one who had to bail for a few holes on the back nine as I got overheated and sick to my stomach, so I had to rest. The course today is NOT a good one IMHO, if they truly want more spectators they need to hold the event at easier walking courses. JMVHO....
  
  Yes! I have a story...I started backwards from 18 to try and meet up with the rest of the gang...I ended up at 16, and plunked myself down in the fan section off the green, one the volunteer Marshall's started talking to me. Of course the conversation naturally went on to talk about Catherine, and this fellow asked me "How old is she?" I said, "Well in person she looks to be in her mid 20;s...do you want me to tell you?" He pondered, and I said "Wait until you see herself, then take a guess, and I'll tell you the truth." Well on this hole Catherine hit her ball down into the wooded area, and this Marshall went and looked with Catherine and her caddy Matt, and when they found the ball he came back to me, and I said "Well?" He replied, "19 or 20" I then proceeded to tell him that Catherine has been married for 14 years and is a few months shy of 40. He didn't believe it, and I thought it was kinda cute.
  
  This same fellow, when he came back to me, told me "You're wearing Red tomorrow.." I thought to myself, "how does he know what color shirts we are wearing tomorrow?" I said yeah, how did you know? I guess while looking for the ball, he and Catherine were talking, and she told him we'd be in our Red shirts. What a crack-up! I guess we'd better comply, right?

• Howdy Everyone! Well I'm going to join Debbie and post a little diatribe of my own about todays events... -- KH, 00:01:30 05/17/08 Sat
  
  Like Debbie said the day started out with Catherine greeting us on hole number one. After teeing off we rounded the first blend and here stands this press guy in the middle of the fairway with his fancy camera and he's on his cell phone. He says to the person who's on the other line, "Hang on a minute, Catherine Bell is passing by in the cart and I gotta snap some pictures." He then goes back to the phone and says a few more things and then says, "Hang on again, I'm taking pictures of the big gallery following her." And there he stood just a snapping away. Too Fun!
  
  Then later on the back nine we walked down to Catherine's tee waiting for her to take her shot. She nonchalantly walks up from her cart with her ball and tee and looks out over the fairway and sees that she has this huge gully and ravine to hit over. Her facial expression is just priceless and she says, "How about I just throw my ball in there now."....LOL...everyone laughed so hard. But the best part was that she hit the SH*T out of the ball...LOL and everyone cheered. It was such a funny moment and such a great shot moment all in one take. What a GREAT day and most of us are all sunburned even with sunscreen. TOO FUN!
  
  On one final note, I have to say how much we all love Catherine's Amateur Partner, Mark Kent. What a nice nice man he is and he always wants to know what shirt we're wearing the next day. He gave us all a hug as we were leaving for the day and said, "see you tomorrow." The Pro's Catherine is playing with are very nice as well.
  
  Well, we're getting ready to leave for dinner so I'll sign off.

She yelled hello to us on the first hole and when I had a moment to walk over to her she hugged me and said she was so sure we would be there. We had our "new" possee shirts that Jennifer got us. They are purple today! People would stop us and ask "What does Catherine's Crew mean?". As CB finished the last hole she said "See ya tomorrow!" On one hole there was a lull and most of us had started taking pics with Cb. One of the marshalls came over and told CB that cameras were not allowed. Catherine said "Thats ok they are friends of mine" She had our backs. Tomorrow we have an early day with her teeing off at 9:10. We have a 2 hr drive ahead of us so we are off to bed!   • It certainly was a great day, albeit it long. Feet and back are sore but who cares right? There really aren't enough adjectives to describe Catherine, she is just so warm & personable & treats everyone with dignity & respect. She is friendly, gregarious (a new word for you Jubes) & its easy to see why they love her so much at this tournament. Debbie forgot to add that on her last hole of the day Catherine did an interview with a local newstation, & she told us "I mentioned you guys, make sure you watch!" So we are gonna watch & see. She is just so appreciative of the fans' support, & because of the type person she is she makes it very easy to be a fan.   • I agree---CB is an incredibly gracious and friendly lady!! She greeted me with a hug and a warm hello. The day was long and in the end was rainy, but for the most part, was incredible. CB is truly an incredible person!!! I cannot really add more than others have, but I can add that on the bus back, we were all offered $50 for the shirts off our backs!!!   • Just another quick note from Greenville.....todays shirts (thanks again to Jennifer) are royal blue...and they say Bell's Bums. We are up early to be off to the tourny. The weather is suppose to be sunny so the sun screen will come out today! Also bug spray, the nats are annoying. Such is life in the south...LOL. Will post later with updates!   • Yes, the first day was indeed a success. It was my first time and I enjoyed it. Tiring and sore feet but hey, who cares? I got to meet Catherine. • We are back!!!! Day two was awsome. The weather was good. The sun came out early and it got hot...but that is the way it is here. Hot and humid. We had an early trip over and got there about 1 hour before tee time. We went down to the ladies tee and hung around talking waiting for Catherine. She came up and said "Morning how are all of you? Sleep well?" It was very hilly today. We had to lose two because the hills were so bad but we got them back later in the day. The holes were long and hard. Catherine golfed ok again today but did have to pick up at times. One hole she had us laughing.....the pro and the caddy told her to "POUND the ball" (shot had to go over a medium size ravine). She did not hold anything back. She hit the ball and said "Wow that felt good!!!" She had a look of pure bliss and joy that she did that! We had so much fun! I am very tired. This is the recent stated for no longer having the celebrity walk of fame. How do you like the change in the courses this year? Glad you ladies are having a fantastic time.     • Juellant, I don't think the courses have been better than the previous years. The course today was very very hilly and the holes were long. It took 6 1/2 hours to get through the day and actually I did not expect it to be that bad. They did not play slow it was just the holes were so long. As for fan friendly...we still get as close as before. There are some holes you just are banned from being close but Catherine spent alot of time in the cart today. I don't think she wanted to walk since the course was so long. Matt (the caddy) is always joking with us as well as the body guard so we do not see a difference. The walk of fame always was a pain anyway to me. People crowd you and push you out of the way when you have been there. Also it takes place after being on the course all day and it is exhausting!   • Yes, day 2 has passed. A very hot, warm and sunny day (I got even more sunburns..I'm covered in after sun. Well, at least I'll be going home with a tan). The course was pretty long and very hilly indeed. Had to take breathers whenever I got the chance. Catherine was her adorable self and played a good game (with some sand boxes in the way here and there - her balls like sand and water. LOL). Some sandboxes gave her quite a run for her money but it was always a reason for cute comments from both her supporters as herself. • I remember reading the heartwarming story how CB surprised a fan for lunch (2005) who had been diagnosed with cancer Siedah Sivels. Diagnosed at 17 Siedah remained active and positive and was studying to become a JAG lawyer (inspired by Mac). Sadly Siedah lost that courageous battle at the tender age of 21.   I'm back finally after being away for so long because of school and work. After reading back a few posts, I realized April was a pretty bad month in terms of losing people. I just lost my grandfather on the 17th and it's been extremely hard because my grandparents raised me when I was younger. Just seeing how supportive you all have been to the other girls is great!

  • You know, as sad as it is, I think the biggest problem is that the Hollywood bosses always want to have a hit with their movies and think they only can have it with 'big names'. Who cares if 'the big name' really fits or if someone would be an even better choice? CB is 'only' a TV star, so I think they simply don't have the radar that would recognize her. I mean, take the role for the Wonder Woman for example. CB would fit perfectly for that role - not only because of her look, but also her fitness and the ability when it comes to action. When I hear the names on the ‘Wonder Woman’-list, I only can laugh and at times I wonder 'where the hell is the connection. I don't see it'.     • Good points Michi. The funny thing is, when I finally get to see these supposedly "big name" translation "popular" stars in something, I fail to see what all the fuss was about. There are a limited amount of great scripts out there especially for the female actor and unless they were doing theatre work, their down time would be fairly long.         • This is from Season One the 4th episode 'One of Our Own' when Denise is relieved that Claudia Joy is safe from the situation she found herself in. (Not saying what, in case some have not seen this yet). It is quite an emotional ending with Denise going to give her friend a comforting hug. Injecting some levity at that point I'm sure helped to relieve the tension and heaviness of that scene. They were having fun. The move was out of left field which is what made it so funny (for me)!!   • These bloopers videos were an absolute hoot...LOL. It sure looks like they have alot of fun on the set in addition to all their hard work. What a tension breaker that was for that last scene which was so intense on the episode. I must have laughed for hours afterwards and it still makes me laugh.
