  • Thanks Linda the nurse. Glad to see AW doing so well in the 'right' demographics. It is such a shame lifetime blocks almost every little clip pertaining to the show for those who reside outside of the US. CB has a worldwide fan base and it is really gets a little frustrating at times. If I see one more joe ordinary celebrity wanna be I shall implode! Although AW has a beautiful cast they are not just posers they are phenomenal actors, with unforgetable perfomances unlike most of the dribble on TV these days.   • I am in agreement here with everyone that said the episode was very emotional and intense and definitely a good episode. And in addition Catherine definitely did not disappoint, which we all knew she was going to do an amazing job. I've still got my seatbelt fastened for the next few episodes and I know more great performances by Catherine. My Mom watches and she called me last night after the episode and she was like Wow!   • I just finished watching the repeat of AW's tonight. It was an intense and suspenseful episode. Some of the SL's were surprises but others weren't.   • i loved it. Denise definately has the most problems to work wirh and it is going to be great to have so much excitement and drauma to anticipate. Catherine does such a great job. think all the stars did great. This show is different in that it has every age group from baby Sara Elizabeth to kids and teens and their problesm. usual adults and even Roland's grandmother. this is different from most shows. makes for great entertainment for us all.     • I too agree with CB. She has voiced concerns I have stated online i.e. the out of character SL for Denise, and in another interview that after she confronted Roland about his affair, her SL was in conflict with that stance. Being separated did not make the Mac issue right but at least showed there was some sort of line Denise wouldn't cross while she and Frank were together. Acting wise I am looking forward to CB's interpretation of this SL and I am sure my heart will bleed for her as she goes through this marital difficulty. I won't be ecstatic if Frank sails through this scot free but sometimes someone has to stand up and be the better person to get to a higher level and if in this instance it is Denise I will live with it if only because I anticipate CB's acting skills being showcased. Any role that brings her incredible skills to the limelight I am all for. CB brings an intensity to the screen which one can tap into and I can't wait to see how she handles this material. • Hi Everyone! I got this e-mail today from my oldest daughter. Her boyfriends friend Derrick is a HUGE Catherine fan and watches "Army Wives" each week. A friend of his sent this to him and he in turn sent it to my daughter and told her to pass it along to me because he and I talk about the show all the time when I'm visiting her and he's over...LOL. Any news on "Army Wives" and we pass it along to each other...LOL. So here you go! It's a nice read and FINALLY someone mentions Frank's infidelity as well with a female soldier while he's deployed in Iraq. For a while there it seemed like they were sweeping Franks affair under the rug and everything was falling on Denise's shoulders.   IN A QUICK SYSNOPSIS, Lifetime's show "Army Wives" sounds like "Desperate Housewives" set on a military post: five couples dealing with their lives, careers, families, and friendships, when one member of each pair is employed by the Army.
  
  While there are a few common themes between the shows, there's none of the husband-swapping, bizarre mysteries, or other such frivolity that makes the implausible "Housewives" such a guilty pleasure.
  
  Instead, "Army Wives" focuses on five middle-class couples who aren't afraid to be vulnerable or make mistakes, learn from them, and move forward. It's not a reality show, but the characters Lifetime has created certainly feel authentic — and viewers have flocked to the show. It's the highest-rated series in the network's 25-year history, and while that may be because there aren't many other scripted series on this network known for its made-for-TV movies, "Army Wives" has already been renewed for a fourth season before its third season has even started to air.
  
  For those who haven't been watching (or who have forgotten, or who didn't watch the reruns of season 2 that recently aired on Sundays at midnight (crank up the DVR), here's a quick overview of the five main families on the show:
  
  
  » the Holdens: Claudia Joy (Kim Delaney), Michael (Brian McNamara), and their teenage daughter Emmalin (Katelyn Pippy). Michael is the post commander of Fort Marshall, and he and Claudia Joy spend much of season two working through their grief at losing daughter Amanda to an explosion at the end of the first season.
  » the Burtons: Joan (Wendy Davis) and Roland (Sterling Brown). In a very modern twist, one of the army wives isn't a wife at all: Roland is the civilian in this couple and gives up a full-time psychology career to be a stay-at-home dad to their newborn baby daughter. Joan is a high-powered army officer, having worked her way up to Lieutenant Colonel, and is the deputy garrison commander of Fort Marshall.
  » the Sherwoods: Denise (Catherine Bell), Frank (Terry Serpico), and their son Jeremy, who has just enlisted in the army himself. Denise and Frank's marriage is on the rocks, and the end of season two finds them each getting involved with someone new: she with an amputee patient she met as a nurse at the local hospital, and he with a female soldier he is working with while deployed in Iraq.
  » the LeBlancs: Roxy (Sally Pressman), Trevor (Drew Fuller), and her two young sons. Spunky Roxy re-built and now owns and runs a bar/restaurant off-post called Betty's, after its late owner.
  » the Morans: ex-cop Pamela (Brigid Brannagh), Chase (Jeremy Davidson), and their two young children. For most of season two, Pamela has a talk radio show on post called "Have At It", where she talks about issues that army wives face. Of all five army spouses, Pamela is alone most often, as Chase gets called to serve frequently and at a moment's notice.
  
  
  If all the military-speak is a bit much, then one of the most surprising parts of "Army Wives" is that the Army is at the same time both crucial and inconsequential to these characters' interpersonal relationships. There are, of course, situations and procedures and hierarchies that would not exist outside the military. But many of their circumstances are not so different from the civilian world:
  
  Joan is pulled in both directions when she returns to work after her maternity leave, and she disagrees with several of the key decisions her interim replacement made in her absence. Claudia Joy and Michael cope with losing their daughter, both together and separately, and that grief manifests itself differently throughout the second season, in almost every situation the couple faces. Pamela often plays the role of both parents while Chase is gone on his frequent missions, while Roxy deals with Trevor's addiction to painkillers. The show succeeds in large part because their lives are not so different from ours: while their husbands are away, Roxy and Pamela worry about family finances and coordinate picking up their kids from school, and those seemingly mundane details go a long way towards narrowing the gap between Army life and civilian life.
  
  (Lest the Army seem like a complete footnote to the show, though, there is a featurette on the new Season 2 DVDs about the Army's support of the series in its second season and its use of former soldier Gavin McCulley as the show's technical advisor and frequent extra. There's even an amusing recounting of some of the details that producers got wrong in the first season.)
  
  
  The crux of the Army's influence on these characters is that the fear of loss is always hanging overhead like the sword of Damocles. The season 2 finale drives that point home for almost every character, not in life-or-death crises, but in life-changing ones. Michael and Claudia Joy are set to leave Fort Marshall for Michael's new job in Brussels. Together, they risk losing daughter Emmalin, who is seen running away with her boyfriend, a young soldier. Joan loses her job as deputy garrison commander of the post to the good-ol'-boys club, while Roland prepares to lose Joan to a deployment in Iraq. Pamela loses her radio show after mouthing off about army wives needing to play second fiddle to their mates' careers. Roxy might lose her bar when Betty's long-lost nephew (played by Ivan Sergei) shows up to take over the business. Denise is at risk of losing her new love interest when his ex-girlfriend wants to reconcile, while her husband risks losing his son's trust and respect after a night spent with a female soldier in Iraq.
  
  Season Three's premiere on Sunday, June 7, at 10 p.m. on Lifetime ties up almost all of those loose ends. Since there are so many plot lines to resolve, that first episode feels a bit jumpy, but the show transitions more smoothly to a few new subplots by the second episode. Most realistically, though, the characters still wrestle with many of the same issues that have been plaguing them since the beginning, just in different contexts. There's a fabulous heated discussion between Roland and Pamela about giving up careers to become army spouses, where he calls upon a sexist cliche about women who become army wives — which offends Pamela in much the same way that her own comment about women staying home to raise a family upset Roxy in Season 2. It's a subtle role-reversal, but it's watching these characters constantly trying to sort out their own opinions and come to terms with their life choices that makes "Army Wives" such a relatable and compelling watch.

  • What else is new? ET is not interested in promoting the craft of entertainment it is into sensationalism, gossip, trivia and fly by nighters. I stopped watching long ago and as KH mentioned below this is not the first time AW has gotten the shaft on ET. CBS let a mega star get away from them and IMHO severely underestimated CB's appeal and fan base. She has been highly sucessful in all her post JAG projects and I don't think CBS will do much to divert any of their audience to CB's projects.     • The bloopers were good but my favourite part is always the commentaries just for the behind the scenes info and for the cast ribbing each other. I found the Fort Bragg visit informative. We really have a class professionals here and they all seem to be really nice on the personal level as well. I cracked up on the blooper of Sterling asleep in the hospital bed and Catherine was whispering and laughing asking if he was really asleep, too funny. Also, loved the one in the scene at Denise's house after Jeremy is arrested she mentions JAG, and Catherine very straight faced says it was a great show, was on for 9 years on CBS, not sure why it was cancelled, I loved that show...too funny! • I also wanted to let you all know that on Pg. 70 of the new US Magazine there is an article titled Television US MUSTS for "Army Wives". The picture isn't of Catherine, it's of Emmaline and her beau. Also, their is a 1/3 of a page article in the new TV Guide on "Army Wives Returns" with a small picture of Claudia Joy and Pamela on Pg. 37. Both of these magazines also have a full page "Army Wives" Promo/Advertisement of the show airing Sunday June 7th. The picture they used is one of the new banners from the Lifetime site. It's the one with the 5 women sitting on the ground all laughing. Cute Picture!   The Hollywood Exclusive: Catherine Bell Glad Adulterous Love Scenes Over/Tanna Frederick Anxious To Show She's Not Neurotic Character

  Catherine Bell is relieved that her "Army Wives" extramarital affair is behind her -- though viewers will certainly be seeing repercussions of her character Denise's indiscretion becoming public knowledge in the third season of the hit Lifetime series which gets underway June 7.
  
  "There's been so much to play it's been challenging in a great way," says Bell. The adultery storyline has been tough, she admits. "My husband and I just had our 15th wedding anniversary, and I'm a proponent of all the things that make a marriage work -- faithfulness, trust and honesty -- so this was definitely unfamiliar territory."
  
  Even shooting the sexy scenes gave her pause. "To kiss and be semi-naked with someone else on the set?" she says. "I've been forced to dig in and try to be a better actress."
  
  How does her husband, actor-writer Adam Beason, feel about her doing those love scenes? "He's great. I can't imagine anyone being better about it," she says. "He doesn't have a jealous bone in his body. He'll be like, 'Oh, you had a love scene?' Very casual. If the situation was reversed, I would be interrogating him: 'You touched her where? Did you like it?' All those things," she admits with a laugh.
  
  Bell doesn't foresee the changes in military policy under President Obama -- topped by his planned withdrawal of troops from Iraq -- affecting the series' stories much. She notes, "Our show has always really been about the families. That doesn't change. There are still those issues of families parting, marriages breaking apart and getting back together, of adjustments having to be made, whether the husbands and wives are going to Iraq or Afghanistan."
  
  Denise now will be seen facing the fact "everyone thinks she was a terrible person. There are going to be a lot of scenes with Frank this season," Bell notes, speaking of her series spouse, Maj. Frank Sherwood, played by Terry Serpico. "We're having to face the reality of what this [affair] has done to us."

  • Thanks KH Laurence referenced posting this below on the AW spoiler board but it is good to see it here too. I wanted to hear what CB thought about Denise and was glad to see this article. She's really getting to exercise her acting chops by stretching out of the more palatable stuff to storylines where she is being abused, faking not knowing how to defend herself and then being adulterous. I'm sure she is finding it challenging as an actor. So she is not quite as laid back and cool about it all as Adam is eh? LOL! The deeper she digs, the more depth and all around diverseness she brings to each character she portrays. I'm so sick of the double standards, why isn't Roland treated terribly? Oh heck no, he's husband & father of the year! It appears that only Denise will be punished, & while there is no doubt Catherine will give her usual amazing performance (nobody does angst better) its nothing something I'm going to want to watch, everyone beating up on Denise while Frank & Roland because they are men get "free" passes.
