• I don’t get what point you’re trying to make to be honest. Players/agents aren’t stupid, they know the power they hold by letting a contract run down. All bit of a moot point for me anyway, despite being a fan favourite for his attitude and endeavour, he’s a middle of the road prem full back, who gets injured a lot and doesn’t offer a huge amount going forward, I’d offer him a decent deal but if not move on and use the money saved in finding someone younger to complement cast.   • Indecisive by the Club , we either want him or we prefer and look at an alternative . If the latter , then we should not be going back now with a better deal . That replacement should already have been lined up and ready to join . But no , it’s so much less hassle to simply try one last offer to tempt him to stay .     • It doesn't work like that though does it? Players, agents and clubs are all engaged in a process of price setting in an opaque market. That means no one actually knows what the "correct" price is. Its set via a process of offers and counters between club and player, taking into account what others are willing to pay. For Tete this is the last big chance to cash in. He's incentivized to play clubs off on another to maximize his contract. No matter what we opened with, he'd still do it.       • I don’t know why people keep assuming we’ve offered him anything. As below, players can easily say when approached, sorry not discussing, I’m waiting to see what the market can offer me, tbey know they hold all the aces. Maybe if you went huge, 4 yrs, 100k a week he may think that’s worth it; but he’s not worth anywhere near that so the club shouldn’t ever offer him that.         • No disagreements there. I do think I recall it reported that we had offered something in-season and Marco saying there were discussions.           • Agreed and far more complex than in yesteryear, clauses, bonuses, all sorts now regularly included, it’s not just here you go Kenny, he’s the 50k a week you were on before for 3 more years and he signs because us fans think he bleeds black and white. • Maybe, maybe - FFC came to Tete with a deal they thought was fair (and likely palatable to the Club), and he/agent said "we'd like to see what else is out there?" and the Club and agent agreed to circle back if another club makes a better offer? What some people call "indecisive" (see below) others might call "keeping your options open". Why not save criticism of the Club for stuff we have all the facts on, there's always some of that?
