Subject: He came from an anti-Nazi family and there was no sign that he was anything but against the regime. In addition, he was 14 years old when he was required to join. How actively should a 14 year old be expected to resist the Third Reich? Also, of all media outlets, the Jerusalem Post rejects the condemnation of his past and notes the compulsory nature of his membership as well as the affirmative role he took in working w/ JPII on Catholic/Jewish relations.
