There has been speculation on the board that we may hold our remaining scholarship until next year. The reason offered is that several players available in 2006, some of whom we are supposedly "in tight" with, are more talented and better suited to our program and our needs than those currently available. My question is: should one or more of those players be currently ammenable to signing a NLI, can we sign him this Spring, or do we have to wait until the Fall? -- Fordham Rams Basketball Message Board

    - Correct. We've been contacted by several interesting transfers. I'm not a big fan of transfers, but Manny Quezada would be a great fit for us.       - Quezada is originally from New York City. Perhaps he wants to come back home. He's 6' 2", 180 lbs. and can score and shoot. He's really a combo guard. If he came to Fordham, I could see us signing another true PG in the Fall. Quesada's final 3 schools were Rutgers , Providence and Stanford. He was also recruited by Columbia and Vandy.         Quezada, the USA Today/Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington, D.C his senior year, sounds like a excellent student athlete.   - Jack Leasure sure did have a great freshman year at Coastal Carolina. I will speak to his brother and see if he's staying put. I'll check on the others as well. I had not heard anything about them transferring. Pettinella was accepted to the Wharton Business School at Penn, so I'd be surprised if he were transferring to SBU, although stranger things have happened. Personally, I think he's more of an Ivy League talent than A-10. The last word I had on Tyler Relph was that he had better hit the books to be eligible next year. That would be all the Bonnies need. I know Marty O hasn't seen a lot of PT at Fairfield. Don't know where brother Jimmy will end up either. He's been prepping this year. In addition, we are losing our coach next year. Coach Joe Marchese is leaving McQuaid to take the position of Principal at LaSalle Academy in Philadelphia. Our school and bb program will miss him very, very much.
