Subject: The Three Point Shot

Is it my imagination or is this the year that the three point shot has come of age in the NCAA Tournament? Yes, I know that it has been in existence for years, and yes, Rick Petino included it in his arsenal years ago, followed among others, by his disciple, Billy Donovan, but this is the first year that I recall when the three point shot has had such an impact in virtually all games in the tournament. Whether in a fast-paced game or a milk-the-clock contest, the shooting this weekend has been incredible. Thoughts?

I disagree, teams relying heavily on three's have been victimized by drastic runs, e.g. West Virginia yesterday (can't shoot the 3 any better than that and they still couldn't get a W) Also, NC State shot the lights out against Wisconsin and still couldn;t get it done. Being a tradItionalist, I did not like the three point shot when it was first introduced. But I have since changed my mind. It permits the possibliity of bigger comebacks and opens up the game. I still do not like the DH rule. (NT) -- RAM71, Sun March 27, 2005 20:36:39
The 3 point shot is the great equalizer in basketball. It has somewhat neutralized teams with power post players ability to totally dominate games.
