• Not the end of the world, but I think it will be a bad sign (albeit a minor one) if we are unable to sign a player at what has appeared to be our most pressing need for a good while now. I know that staff is hard at work, so to me the lack of a signing would be more a sign of how players perceive Fordham and not at all about how hard the staff has worked.   • Agreed. The perception by many recruiting prospects is that we are still a struggling program. There is always a bit of a lag from perception to reality here. It's not easy finding players like Stout and Dunston who had such confidence that they could envision getting into a tough situation and having an immediate impact to improve it.   • generally, yes, the top talent signs in the fall but there are alot of players who fall through the cracks and don't sign until the spring. Marcus Stout and Kevin Anderson signed w/ us last spring and they proved to be solid players. I think DW is one of those coaches who knows where to find the "tweeners" -- players who could play in the A-10 but go to the MAAC. Players like Jason Wingate, Peter Mulligan, and Keydren Clark. I think those are the types of players than DW can look to sign in the spring. Based on the record to date, I'm pretty optimistic that we'll sign a player who will help us next year and thereafter.       • Austrie fits the bill perfectly. He's explosive and can play the 1 or 2. Lowe did not fit the bill. Only a fair outside shooter and not really explosive. But very, very steady and a heady player with excellent defensive ability. (NT) -- Rambacker, Mon March 28, 2005 13:33:27

            • From the Middletown Press article of March 23: Austrie will make an official two-night visit to Providence on Monday.It’s believed that Austrie would get a chance to play right away with the Friars... His two day official visit begins today at Providence, let's hope DW impressed him sufficiently to have him postpone a decision until we have had a chance to schedule a visit to Rose Hill. I fear the worst though, as someone previously indicated that Providence all but had this kid locked up. By the way, we aren't even mentioned in that article.                   • I actually read today that he promised Coach Self he was going back to KU next season. I think he would be unwise to transfer given all the players they are losing, he'll most definitely see loads of playing time next season with Miles and Langford gone.
