Subject: You are absolutely right J92, you cannot have it both ways, but somehow the NCAA Selection Committee has it both ways every year. For one team they will argue the conference record and for the next they will argue the out of conference. In my opinion they do not look at SOS all that much, at least not in the OOC so it and as long as teams do not load up solely on cupcakes, it pays to schedule winnable games. I think what hurt St. Joe's the most was that it was hard to argue that they had a rough start when the loss to Penn and drubbing by Nova (a good team) were during the conference schedule and they also lost to URI late, albeit right after the Temple goon-gate situation.
In reply to: J92 's message, "If St. Joes beats URI at URI on ESPN the other day they finish 9-1 to end the season. That would have made them the last team out. As for the Hawks OOC.. I never thought in the begining of the season that Drexel, Bucknell, Penn, ODU and Villanova were killers but if they win two of those games they would have made it... The Iowa/IU problem, to me, was that they couldn't have justified taking one over the other and therefore neither should have made it. You can't have it both ways - tough OOC got penalized here." on Sun March 13, 2005 22:25:28
