Monday when I called to ask Pam, the secretary at Sycamore, to get Teiguen's files ready for me to pick up, she put me on hold and never came back. Eventually somebody else came and said she was too busy to talk to me and asked if they could take a message.
Is this new policy at our district...you have to call and schedule a time to talk to the secretary by phone?
I knew damned well what was going on. She didn't want to get caught between me and the principal there.
When I went in she immediately said, "Oh, Miss Beth! I put you on hold and never got back to you!" Phony, but I was willing to forgive it.
Then she told me that she was sorry I hadn't gotten a letter about the boys. She told me that they hadn't sent letters to anyone yet. They wanted to wait and see what the Kindergarten numbers did first.
Does that make any sense to you? If you're concerned about one grade level, you hold EVERYONE'S request???
I knew it was a lie and she was just trying to make nice...so I kind of didn't process it, if you know what I mean. One thing I do not tolerate from friends are lies. Lie to me once and you have an ex-friend. However, I knew she was in a tough spot, so I just kind of didn't deal with it.
Today at church a mom of one of the girl's in Liam's class stopped me. Turns out, she got letters of acceptance for her girls...IN JUNE!
You know, Pam could have told me that she didn't realize some kids hadn't been sent letters yet. But, she chose to lie and try to make the principal at Sycamore look good.
I'm just wondering what they thought would happen. You know, it would have made things REALLY sticky for them had I just dropped the boys off for the first day of school without checking, now wouldn't it.
Anyway, now I see Pam's real colors. I won't be bothering her with anymore friendly visits when I'm over there!
