Recently our Walmart marked their remaining 21st 1/18 guys to $1...I bought several of them, thinking I'd just hang on to them for their coolness. But now my little boy has taken an interest in them, and has opened them all up! No problem...I'll encourage any army toys! Does anybody else have some of these they'd part with? Just the WWII ones...Or if you see them marked down at Wally World...

- If there are any ones in particluar you want/need, let me know. The hobby shop I work at (part-time) has the largest stock in Canada. Unfortunately, no Germans, but U.S. Army, Marines, Imperial marines, airborne. All WWII. Lots of vehicles too, including many of the new German 88. (NT) -- Sgt. Horvath 1, 20:21:31 08/01/09 Sat
- Sgt Horvath, what are the 88's going for price wise? (NT) -- 11B1SG, 22:29:41 08/01/09 Sat
- Well, with the Canadian dollar quite strong now against the U.S. dollar, the price would be $106.76 (US) today. The price for me here in Canada is $114.99(cdn). We have 4 of them left at the store, and since 21St century is no longer making anything any more, these will be the last ones we have. (NT) -- Sgt. Horvath 1, 23:12:36 08/01/09 Sat

Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week. Three small sets to finish up with, and each of them really neat, so let's get right to them all.
First up our old friend from Spain, Jordi, returns. It seems like he took a recent trip to Castellfollit De La Roca near his home in Spain and took his Gyperman troops with him for a little mountain climbing vacation. Boy, Jordi sure does have some pretty places there in Spain to use as backdrops for his photos, that's for sure. That town up there on that cliffside is just amazing looking. Of course, all his Gypermen and Action Men are decked out in their hiking gear. Once again, some interesting stuff here from ol' Jordi, so be sure to go take a peek at it. Special thanks to Jordi for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Next up, our old friend Dewback Matt is back with a little something on the OT side for us, still 1/6th though. This time though to show off some of his wife's handiwork. It seems like back this past Halloween she created a very cool Cinderella pumpkin carriage... and I do believe that's a real pumpkin she has there all painted up. A really nice and unique project, although if that's a real pumpkin, I'm sure it's history. I'm glad he managed to find these photos of it though. As a bonus photo, he sends us in a single shot of the 1/1 scale F-14 that he was restoring for a museum. Pretty cool! I think he said there wasn't any engine in it, but it sure would be neat to hop up there into the cockpit anyway. So be sure to check this one out! Special thanks to Matt for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, our old friend 11B1SG is back with a very interesting project for us. Here we get his customized "Follow Me" jeep. I've never seen anything quite like this in 1/6th scale. Personally, I have never really seen one in real life either. It seems the Follow Me jeeps were used by the airforce to lead in pilots through the runways to their proper hangers and things. Usually brightly colored and sometimes with a big "Follow Me" sign on the back. 11B1SG has done an awesome job on this one giving it a wild red and white checkboard pattern with a huge Follow Me sign attached to the rear. Another cool and unique project from our old buddy, so be sure to check it out. Special thanks to 11B1SG for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that wraps up this week. Still got a thing or two I didn't get to this week, so be sure to come on back regular time Sunday night/ Monday morning when we'll get this whole thing started up again. Until then... take it lite men.
Have a great weekend guys!

- Jordi -- Your crew has some beautiful country to explore. Looks like lobster salad sandwiches for everyone in the crew, too. Dewback -- so both you and your wife are responsible for passing the creativity gene on to your daughter. 11B1SG -- that jeep is quite distinctive and most definitely an eyecatcher. It most certainly would be a welcome sight for any pilot landing at a reduced visibility or unfamiliar airfield. Great sets from everyone. Thanks for sharing with us. (NT) -- Chairborne, HoH, 19:06:39 07/30/09 Thu
- Great work guys!!! :-D (NT) -- Warriors 1st BN, 19:56:24 07/30/09 Thu
- Jordi, I always love the way you do the forced perspective, with the bull fighting ring, and now the castle :) Dewback Matt, I Love that pumpkin carriage that your wife made !! I'm sure the girls in my town would love it too !! :) Scott, I know of the ''follow me'' Jeeps on airfields during WW II. I've always wanted to try a black and yellow checkered one, but there aren't any airstrips near Marwencol (LOL). I love the checkering job that you did on this Jeep !! (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 20:06:01 07/30/09 Thu
- I'll take a small bucket of butter along with my favorite smithing maul... never had Spanish lobster, but I'll bet it tastes like the Main variety. A Cinderella pumpkin coach?!? Now THAT's unexpected!!! - pretty cool too... but yea, the "Follow Me" jeep is a winner! Remember the one from the movie "Always"? The one that would fire up and take off on it's own? Lead a pilot RIGHT into somebody's house... HARHARHARHAR!!!! (NT) -- Sgt. Howard, 21:41:02 07/30/09 Thu
- That looks to be a tasty crawfish... A killer one in 1/6th scale! LOL! Jordi, That part of Spain is nice looking, and some good shots of your figures. 11B1SG, I think you improved on the jeep in the link. I like the larger sign you used. A very neat project. Dewback, your wife did a heck of a job on this pumkin coach! She needed some mice!! (NT) -- ilaf, 22:07:45 07/30/09 Thu
- Yes- that is a real pumpkin (NT) -- dewback matt, 23:06:40 07/30/09 Thu
- Jordi, those shots make me miss Europe back in my service days. Sharp looking tour group you have there. Lobster tonight? Dewback Matt, cool looking coach. Something really different. Scott, man that is one sharp Jeep. I've always wanted to do something like that since I saw the black and yellow version of that Jeep at the Watertown, NY airport back in '84. That thing is really cool. And, wow this was a nice large Update like back a number of years ago. (NT) -- Rich, 03:43:39 07/31/09 Fri

Just recieved a Kettenkrad from Irish (for an absurdly cheap price!) and he throws a Feldgerdam uniform as well as a FieldMarshal's, both Wehrmacht! I had figured on useing the 'krad with 'Klaus, the sour kraut FG I sent for the last photo contest- mentioned this to Irish, so now I have TWO FG uniforms, one with the HIGH TICKET MOTORCYCLE GREATCOAT! I put Fritz Altmann in that one and gave him the MP-40 with 'Klaus now toting an early Schmeisser.
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!
... and I also have ideas about embarrasing a Field Marshal... soon as I figure who to stuff into the uniform...

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two more sharp projects for today, so let's get right to them both!
First up, our old friend Chairborne is back with a very cool project for us. Here we get his very sharp looking WWII US 437th Troop Carrier Group. I have to say Chairborne has put some fine looking troops together here. I wouldn't mind snatching these guys up for my collection :) It makes my old Ultimate Soldier WWII troops look a little shabby, that's for sure :) Chairborne has taken some really nice outdoor photos of them here too. He even gives us a little general background info on them. So if you're into that WWII stuff, definitely be sure to check out these guys! Special thanks to Chairborne for sending this cool set in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, our old friend Graeylin is back with a project he's been working on lately. It seems like he decided to do a 1/6th version of the Marvel hero Ghost Rider. He's pretty much wearing Junkyard Jack's suit straight out of the box, but ol' Graeylin put a bucketload of work into the custom Ghost Rider head and it really paid off in my opinion. He even made a couple of the accessories by hand too. A really sharp version of Ghost Rider here. So definitely be sure to take a peek at him. Special thanks to Graeylin for sending this new project in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Also, one of the most recorded songs since Stan Jones wrote it in '48. Although recorded by the likes of Slim Whitman to Spike Jones my personal favorite is the 1980 Outlaws version. Of course I used to see the Outlaws almost every weekend at Dino's Bar and Grill on South Dale Mabry in Tampa! Cool Job Graey. (NT) -- Rich, 18:15:13 07/29/09 Wed
- Chairborne, very good figues and pics. But I like the info on the pilots.. makes you wonder if it was better to stay with the airborne guys or hike back to the beach? Greay, just a very cool method of putting on the flames. I really like how that turned out on this figure. (NT) -- ilaf, 21:26:32 07/29/09 Wed
- Good day, Gentlemen -- I appreciate the comments. The figures came about as a result of your assistance with my airbourne MP and ETO Marine enquiries, and GL's challenge to open my eyes and mind to other possibilities. Ilaf, I have been toying with the idea of entering the photostory world. You may very well have provided me with a storyline. Thank you. Graeylin, the flaming head and those eyes, those staring eyes. That is just so eerie -- too eerie. (NT) -- Chairborne, HoH, 08:05:43 07/30/09 Thu

Was just checking Cotswold's site at www.elitebrigade.com a moment ago and noticed on their front page they had a black turtleneck sweater pictured. Went into that and they have in their Elite Brigade brand both black and white versions. I know several of our members here have asked for them over the past couple of years and I would like to get a couple more myself. They are $4.49 each and look sharp.

Ok troops, time for another cool site update. Only one set for today, but a bucket load of photos in it, so let's get right to them all.
Returning for today is our old friend Checkmate King 2 with the second half of his cool Civil War photo set. This one he sort of mixes some of the old shots with some of his newer stuff, so some of you guys might have seen a bit of this before. It doesn't matter either way though, because CK2 sure can take a photo and his Civil War troops sure are awesome. We get to see the North and the South in this photo set. So if you've been waiting for the second part of this one like I have, then definitely be sure to check this one out. For all you Civil War guys, this is must see stuff for sure. Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two cool sets today, so let's get right to them both!
First up, our old friend Irish13 is back with part 4 of his cool modern era photo story, The GunPoint, continued from photo set 3854. Well if you guys remember from the last episode, we got the mission briefing so we could see what the team was after, and it happened to be a rogue Marine turned terrorist. In this episode, we pick up right where we left off. I really don't want to give any of the storyline away here, but I will say that Irish13 throws a new little twist into the story in this episode. Once again, some terrific dialog and photography. So if you've been following this cool new story "The GunPoint" like I have, then be sure to check out this newest episode. Special thanks to Irish13 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least, our old friend Scott Merry from the UK is back with another one of his cool, kitbashed figures. Here we get his "Brad-Pitt-alike" jungle fighter figure. More really sharp work from Scott here, he picked a sharp looking headsculpt and a really terrific looking gear setup. Another cool project from Scott all the way around here. So if you're into those modern spec ops types, then you definitely won't want to miss this newest project from him. Special thanks to Scott for sending this cool new project in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

From the day that I filmed the last Marwencol episode in the rain,... GL sir, I've been meaning to ask you sir, if you've recieved the 3 e-mails containing the last episode of Marwencol, taken with the G6 ? Thank you GL. :)....I haven't had a camera in three weeks. I sent my G6 Power Shot to Illinois to be repaired at the Canon Factory-Repair shop, two weeks ago. This past Wednesday, Fed Ex delivered a box to me from Illinois, containing not my repaired camera, but a different camera ! They explained to me, that they didn't want to keep me waiting for parts that they didn't have on hand to repair my G6.... so they sent me a G9, brand new in the box !!!! I hated it, and tossed it back into tha box.
I wanted MY camera back...the one that I've been filming with for years... but they sent me something from outer space !! The G9 sat in that box since Wednesday, until I couldn't take 'not being able to film' anymore, swallowed my pride, and I read the owner's manual yesterday morning. By the afternoon, I was filming the next episode of Marwencol with the G9... The camera's still fighting me, because it wants to take pictures of Birthdays, vacations, and regular family things, but I'm taming it to take pictures of action, suspense, romance, and death... in 1/6th of course :) BHD,.... I sent you a 21 C. German General's uniform yesterday :)

Up to start off this week is our old friend Hogie309 with the last episode of his WWII Town of Marwencol saga before his camera died, continued from photo set 3859. I'm sure you guys have heard the story where he attempted to film in the pouring rain, well I don't know if it was worth it or not to kill his camera, but he sure did snap off some very unique looking photos here. All the troops in their slickers and wet uniforms with raindrops all over them are very sharp looking. I do admire him for attempting the never attempted before thing though. And like I said, he did come out with some really cool photos for this one. Oh my gosh, his camera died at really the wrong time though, just when the action was heating up. Hopefully Hogie will have that camera back up and working soon or get that new one to cooperate with him so we will see another Marwencol episode really soon. For now though, be sure to check out this cool new episode. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this new one in and sharing it with us, and killing his camera in the name of 1/6th movie making. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that does it for today. More cool stuff on the way from our fellow men in the field tomorrow of course, so be sure to come on back and see what they have in store for us. Until then... take it lite men.
Sharp Salute!

I really like GL's team sneaking up on the Nazis. Geez, you gotta follow this up in a couple of days though! (NT) -- Rich, 17:17:25 07/26/09 Sun

- Hogie- go online and see if you can't get a plexiglas scuba box for your G-9. Ought to be good for 150 ft. so it should put up with a little rain... if not, give me the critical dimentions of the new camera and I'll see what I can fabricate for a 'raincoat' (NT) -- Sgt. - Re: Some very nice "in the field" shots today Hogie. Your troops have an excellent place to play. I particularly liked the airborne guys moving along the tree line. (NT) -- Point Man, 03:52:29 07/27/09 Mon
- Hogie -- there is no doubt that you are a consummate artist. The poses, the angles, the terrain usage are, as usual, outstanding. Your boldness in venturing out to exploit the rain as an element in the story raises your capital as a director and producer to another, higher level. I am in awe. - Thank You Very, very much GL and the rest of you fellas, for the comments on this wet episode. I've learned my lesson in filming that one ! I've already filmed two new and surrealistic episodes of Marwencol, with the now 'well-tamed' G9 :) I also thank all of you fellas, for the support you've given me, when the only device I had to record 'their' story died on me, and the battles I went through to learn the new instrument, so I can continue documenting their struggle, in a world that doesn't understand them... Thank You, GL and Fellas :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 17:46:14 07/27/09 Mon
- "The Unit" -- Rich, 03:04:12 07/25/09 Sat (cache-mtc-ae05.proxy.aol.com/64.12.117.9)
You can tell that I really don't keep up with current television much. I only found this out while forwarding Warriors 1stBn some info on "The Unit". The show has been cancelled. What gets me is that to my understanding this was one of the Network's top seasonal programs. I find it hard to believe that the show lost that much of it's appeal. The fascinating thing is the show didn't resort to going to Mexico to make it look like European towns every time they needed it for the story line. For those who have traveled such mundane things as the paving stones for driveways and parking lots, interior wall outlets, and switches, dumpsters, and exterior big city scenes with foreign architecture really stand out for accuracy. As much as I love the old Hogan's Heroes show the paneled doors and door "knobs" really stand out as inaccuarcies. Never saw anything like that in Germany or in any of their historical photographs. Maybe I am too picky. Still, an excellent show such as "The Unit" will be sorely missed.

I spoke to Medi-Jeep today via cell phone and he told me about his missing in action here in GL's back yard.
Seems that he got hit with a virus or something that knocked out his computer. He has been spending the last week working on it, re-booting it and getting it back in working order. He wanted me to let everyone here know that he is doing alright just his computer is down.
Everyone take care and he will be back online soon he says.

Well... I'm glad y'all liked my Civil War pictures. Chairborne thought I did a tutorial a while back about setting up studio style dioramas. I don't think that was me. My indoor pictures suck ! I have found that clearing a space of 1:1 debry in a wooded area, about 3 to 5 feet in diameter is all I need to set up for outdoor pictures. Things like honeysuckle bushes make great 1:6 scale trees. I am lucky to have a small woods (or stand of trees) behind our house and a tree-lined creek across the street, that makes a great scale river.
I have made a couple of elevated stages for some resent pictures. I took a 5 foot long board and put it up on stands a few feet off the ground and covered it with sand. I used this to shoot cavalry, supply train and troop movement shots.
My most resent Indian pictures were taken on top of a 5 foot step ladder with a small board on top, for the figures to stand on. Notice you never see their feet or the feet of the horses they may be riding. I'm just creating the illusion. LOL !!! The reason I did the shoots on top of the ladder was because I wanted to take advantage of the bright blue skies and sun that day to add contrast to the pictures.
The best thing I can tell you about doing pictures is to keep your camera close to your subject and at the level of the figures eyes. Old One Shot taught me alot about forced persprective photography, back when he was doing motorcycle pictures. I've just applied his techniques to the woods and creek.
I hope this helps.
Checkmate King 2, out.

As some of you may remember, my daughter had an awful time with her kidneys earlier this year. After 2 emergency room visits, and visits to an internist, urologist, and gynocologist we think that the problems were a combination of way too many energy drinks and long soaks in the tub with some concentrated body washes. They are not sure which was the major cause for her troubles, but one or the other just set off everthing. I can say that since she has not been drinking any energy drinks her mood has been much better, her skin looks very good and she is gettiing much better rest.
Two weeks ago my wife had a hysterectomy and is doing very well. She is having less and less pain each day and the doctor, today, said that she is healing very quickly and should be able to go back to work mid August. The doctor said that if she had not had the surgury, she very well could have bled to death due to massive amount of fibroids in her uterus.
For me, I have been going to a massage therapist for the past 4 months to help with some pain I have had for the past 14 years due to a mountain bike acident that dislocated my right hip and flattened the upper portion of my spine. It is absoilutely amazing what a good massage therapist can do! As usual I can't find any 1/6th stuff in town and have been a bit busy with everybody elses health issues to much in the way of habbies anyway, but I can say that Everyone has done a great job on their photo submissions. Everyone keep up the great work.

Hope your wife continues to improve as well. Have to agree with about those massage therapist. Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week. Only one set to wrap it up with, but lots of great photos, so let's get right to it!
Wrapping up this week is our old friend Checkmate King 2 with the first batch of a two batch photo page submission featuring his awesome Civil War figures. These are kind of a mixture of some of the old shots he's taken mixed in with some brand new stuff. Today we'll start off with the Confederacy, along with Lee and his officers. More great photos here from our old friend. As you might know from his previous submissions, he's got a terrific looking bunch of Civil War figures and his setups and locations are always awesome. So if you're a Civil War buff, this is absolutely a must see. Of course, if you're a fan of great 1/6th photos in general, you won't want to miss it either :) So be sure to check it out! Special thanks to Checkmate King 2 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

So I guess I'll see everyone back here regular time Sunday night/ Monday morning when we'll get this whole thing started back up again. Until then... take it lite men.
Have a great weekend guys!

I used chop-stix for the handles and Gorilla Glue to hold them on Hope y'all like the next set of pics as well. (NT) -- CK2, 09:23:47 07/24/09 Fri

okimbored, 14:49:00 07/24/09 Fri
- CK2 -- it is all awe inspiring! The detailing in the figures is exceptionally fine and attentive. But if the figures were not enough, there is that beautiful countryside in which you have posed them. I remember that you did a tutorial on backgrounds for studio shoots, but these look too real to be anything other than outside. The fall of the shadows under the sun in the last photo on Page 2 is the one that has me convinced. Absolutely awe inspiring. (NT) -- Chairborne, HoH, 15:00:52 07/24/09 Fri

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two sets today, so let's get right to them.
Returning for today is our old friend Zman with another one of his Ranger figures. This one, a heavy gunner. It looks to be the same era as the last guy, only this fellow is toting a heavy machine gun and a bazooka. This guy is also posing alongside the 21st SEAL jeep. Another great figure from our old friend, so if you're a fan of ol' Zman's work like me, then definitely be sure to take a peek at this new project from him. Special thanks to Zman for sending this sharp figure in and sharing it with us. - Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, or old friend Tonjes returns after a bit of a hiatis from the photos pages. It seems like he's got the story telling bug and decided to start his own photo story entitled "The Land of Dwarves". Not a whole lot happening in this intro, but I can tell you I was pretty intrigued with where he's going with this one next when I finished up this episode. It looks to be a great start to a cool new storyline here. So be sure to take a peek at it! Special thanks to Tonjes for sending in this cool part 1 and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

- Zman, you HAVE to start a story with this Ranger !!!! He looks so realistic, and weathered, that it would be a shame to not let him 'move around' in some sort of predicament !! :) Tonjes, I can't believe how cool the first episode of your story is !!! I LOVE that Barn !!!! the rolling doors and loft, give the whole scene so much realism, and the figures/ characters are too cool !! I hope that you still want to visit Marwencol, to pick up some barrels of 1/6th fountain water, so you can trade them for whatever your clan needs to sustain their lives :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 19:40:55 07/22/09 Wed

- Zman -- Inspiring work, absolutely inspiring. That last photo would work very well for a recruiting poster. Is there anyone else in that jeep? Tonjes, an intriguing story, indeed. Is the barn of your own designing? And why am I getting a "TARDIS" vibe from it? (NT) -- Chairborne, HoH, 11:57:32 07/23/09 Thu

Seems Verizon went down around here again. I know it was up at around 4:30 but when I got to setting up last night's site update....nothing was connecting to the internet. I even went back down to work to try it from there but since I have Verizon there too and it's only 5 minutes from my house , I kind of figured it was going to be out there too and it was. Anyway everything seems to be back up and running now. So tonight's site update should be on schedule. Again sorry about that. Just figured I'd let everyone know I wasn't dead or anything..... in case you were wondering ;)
