Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week and we'll be ending it with another of our continuing photo story episodes. So let's get right to it!
Wrapping up another cool week of site updates for us is our old friend Hogie309 with the next installment of his WWII Town of Marwencol saga, continued from photo set 3896. In this episode, he does a little ode to his favorite scene from the movie "The Longest Day", the one with the British beach master and his curly big stick. As always, more awesome photos here from Hogie and a great new Marwencol episode. So if you've been waiting for the next installment like I have, then definitely don't miss this new one. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this cool new episode in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

- One of my all time favorite movies since my parents took me to it from the opening week. Good to see Scott Merry with the miracle wielding Shaleighleigh! - LOL!!! My plan tomorrow is to replace the fuel pump in my wifes car... wished I could just bash it to getting it to work! A very fitting story, for me! (NT) -- ilaf, 21:25:38 09/03/09 Thu

- About half of that movie is just pure Hollywwod, but for the time it was the most accurate depiction of combat shown to the American public. The info about the poem that signalled invasion in 24 hrs? That was retrieved by a soldier who shot a carrier pidgeon on the Normandy coastline. The Germans had shotgunners stationed where they were likely to cross... as opposed to the German officer gunning down a running agent... (NT) -- Sgt. Howard, 20:11:49 09/04/09 Fri
- I have to admit- "Give it a good bash!" was also one of my favorite parts of the film. "There's a 'eluva man, that is..." Aye an' I like his dog, Too..." "MOVE ALONG, YOU TWO- the war's over THAT way!" HARHARHARHAR!!!! (NT) -- Sgt. Howard, 20:14:29 09/04/09 Fri
- Thank You GL and Fellas, for the cool comments on this tribute-episode :) I got the idea, when Ranger322 couldn't get the Jeep started, and Scott Merry was standing right there in the Marwencol cemetary, with a big curly stick.... :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 20:16:36 09/04/09 Fri

Ok troops, time for the first site update of the week. And I thought it was a pretty darn cool one myself, so let's get right to it then.
Returning to start off this week is our old friend Checkmate King 2 with another one of his historical photo sets. In this one, we get to see a great Native American Indian camp setup, featuring two awesome teepees that he's made himself, some hide tanning racks, and a bunch of his great looking 1/6th Indians. This scene depicts the Indian encampment as the day starts with wild animals roaming around and later even some trappers show up to do some trading. Another excellent outdoor photo shoot here from our old friend without a doubt, so definitely don't miss this one. Must see stuff here! Special thanks to Checkmate King 2 for sending this new project in and sharing it with all of us. Sharp Salute!

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. 2 sharp sets for tonight, so let's get right to them!
First up for tonight is our old friend Graeylin with another of his cool customized figures. This time a very sharp looking Satsuma Rebellion Samurai from the 1870's. I believe Graeylin said the movie The Last Samurai was set in this time frame. Of course another awesome looking Japanese soldier here from our old buddy without a doubr. Perfect choice of headsculpt and his uniform is just fantastic. So if you're a fan of Graeys work like I am then you won't want to miss this newest project from him. Special thanks to Graeylin for sending in this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp salute!

And last but not least our old friend Irish13 is back with the next part of his WW2 OSS storyline featuring Ol' Cal Lee, continued from photo set 3897. Well things are beginning to mellow out a bit for Cal in this episode. I really don't want to give away the story here so I'll just say this is a bit of a change from the Cal Lee we're used to seeing, for good or bad depending on your pont of view :) Another great batch of photos from Irish, so if you've been following the misadventures of Lt Lee then be sure to check out this new episode. Special thanks to Irish for seding this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp salute!

The three street lamps and posters, 1/6th News papers, Chesterfield cig-pack designs, and the two hand-made Petrol drums, made it here yesterday, and I walked up to the Post Office today, to pick them up :) They came across the United States, by Stagecoach it seems, LOL ! :) The Postmaster told me, that it takes 5-8 days for something to get here by truck (USPS), and 3-5 days by Areoplane (Priority). Because there was Labor Day, I figured that, that's what the hold-up was :) I knew that they would get to me, and Thank You again Greg, for the coolest looking street lamps that I've ever seen !! I put them in my town already !! :)

Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week and I thought it was a pretty neat one, so let's get right to it then!
Wrapping up this week is our fellow trooper from Spain, Jordi, with another of his cool on location shoots featuring his Geyperman figures. It seems Jordi took a vacation to Normandy France recently and his Geypermen tagged along for another of their sight seeing hikes. They even managed to find some 1/6 souvenirs while digging around on the beaches and took some photos of it for us :) Of course that's not all, like I said Jordi was there too and he took some shots of what he saw as well. I wish he would have taken more pics but the ones he did take are really cool. What a shame seeing all that stuff just wasting away to dust, or to "rust" to be more exact. Jordi also shared a bunch of links he thought you might like to check out associated with Normandy, so I posted them along with the pics he sent. I sure hope I can get there one day to see all this in person. For now though be sure to go and take a peek at Jordi's cool vacation highlights. Special thanks to Jordi for sending thse in and sharing them with us. Sharp salute!

Cotswold is taking preorders now for a new line of Wooley Pulley sweaters. So far black, navy blue, and a dark tan will be available. Hopefully OD green will follow soon. These are used by a number of countries and not only do the Marines wear them, I wore them in the Army back in the '80s under my BDUs. Ok troops, time for another sharp site update from our fellow men in the field. 2 more cool sets for tonight, so let's get right to them!
First up for tonight is our old friend Warriors1stBN with a "special" episode of his sci-fi/fantasy story The Mission, continued from photo set 3881. First we start off with a little background info on some of the team members. Then we shift fairly dramatically from FX 1/6 to artwork as Warriors tells the story of Motoko and Miki in Manga comic style. So not much 1/6th in this one in other words :) This probably wouldn't be something I would ordinarily allow to be posted but since it goes together with his 1/6th story I figured it was OK in this case. I do believe Warriors said that the artwork is his own so I guess here is another of Warrior's many talents surfacing :) Nice looking for sure. Then at the end we get a little info on the world in which The Mission takes place. So if you've been waiting for the next installment of this cool story then be sure to check this "special" episode out. Special thanks to Warriors for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp salute!

And last but not least we have a little SCRAPBOOK submission from fellow trooper Cbtengr. Actually he sent these in a couple weeks ago but I temporarily lost them in another folder like I do from time to time :P Here we get some photos of some military Jeeps he took at a show some time ago. Figured you guys could use these for reference photos for some customizing projects. Some nice looking Jeeps here so be sure to go and take a peek at them. Special thanks to Cbtengr for sending these in and sharing them with us (Sorry it took me so long to get these posted my friend). Sharp salute!

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Another one of our weekly continuation story lines for tonight, so let's get right to it then!
Returning for tonight is our old friend Hogie309 with the next episode of his WWII Marwencol saga, continued from photo set 3903. Just kind of a little short filler episode, we get to see more of that weird dinosaur thing in this one, although we still don't know exactly what it's doing there and he introduces a couple new characters, including a 1/6th version of his real life brother Mike. As always, more fantastic photos here from Hogie, that last scene really cracked me up! So if you've been waiting for the next Marwencol episode like I have, then you won't want to miss this newest one. Great stuff as always. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Bad news first- I sent a package to Mark Hogancamp Monday last, and it has YET to arrive- I am wondering if it got lost in the mail. Nothing irreplacable, it all represents my work that I can duplicate... just a bummer.
Good news- four of my favorites photos that I have shared with Y'all I did up on quality paper, matted and put on display at a local Art Gallery- I SOLD ONE THIS WEEK! If you go back to the beginnings of "Pilgrimage", one of the scenes of the tank rumbleing on while Sgt. Dunkerfield complains about being hungover (without the dialogue) now hangs on somebody's wall! I also put up "KP" (Sad Sack Sullivan and the bucket of spuds), "Caught in the open" (three krauts in a Kübelwagon getting buzzed by a Spitfire) and "Angels of Christmas" (a trio of P-47s flying over a snow covered valley). If that package don't make it, I'll start another one Mark.

I'm watching Stacey David's "Gearz" on Speed TV right now. The topic regards how the hot rod era effected toys. He started with Matchbox and Corgi and built up to how Hot Wheels came about. Between these comparisons they had a scene of the TUS R/C Stuart crank up, fire it's shot, then run over a bunch of other toys. Cool scene.

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two small sets today, so let's get right to them both!
First up, our old friend da Bronx Commando is back with a cool project he's been working on. Here we get his version of GI Joe's Snake Eyes. And I have to say he's done a really sharp job of it. It sure looks like Snake Eyes to me anyway :) He's even posed him in some really sharp poses. I particularly like that shot where he's on his back firing through his legs. Another cool project here from our old friend, so if you're into that Yo Joe stuff, then be sure to check this one out! Special thanks to da Bronx Commando for sending this latest project in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!
CLICK HERE to jump to that page.
And last but NOT least for today, our old friend J Cast is back with a part 2 of that little photo comic we saw a while back featuring his Cy girl Vanity taking on some villains (continued from photo set 3856). In this episode, she's joined by another Cy Girl and I do believe even Action Man shows up in this one. Hopefully we'll see more of this one in the future, because I'd like to know how this one all turns out. A cool little episode here, so be sure to go take a peek at it. Special thanks to J Cast for sending this new one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that does it for today. More cool stuff on the way for tomorrow, so be sure to come on back regular time and see what our fellow men have in store for us. Until then... take it lite men.
Sharp Salute!

DBC, you know I'm a fan of Snake-Eyes, and I've gotta say you did a great job on yours. I love your choice of gear and weapons, and your poses and photography are great. Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two more sharp sets today, so let's get right to them both!
First up for today, fellow trooper Oddbod24 is back with part 2 of his Civil War General Sherman photo shoot, continued from photo set 3886. If you remember from the last episode, they had captured a poor Confederate fellow who was refusing to give up the whereabouts of some gold that Sherman was looking for and the Reb. was putting up with some questionable interrogation tactics. It looks like in this episode, he's still refusing to give up that gold and is about to pay the price for it in a pretty nasty way. Another cool set here from Oddbod, so if you're into that Civil War stuff, be sure to check this one out. Special thanks to Oddbod for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, our old friend Cbtengr is back with another one of his awesome projects to check out. Here we get his completely scratch built WWII German Nebelwerfer. He said he built this from random scratch pieces and used some baby carriage wheels for the wheels on this thing. Of course, he's got it all put together and painted and displayed with some of his troops here. There's even a shot of it being towed behind a Kettenkrad. You guys never fail to amaze me with what you can build from scratch. So if you're into that WWII German stuff, you won't want to miss this one. Special thanks to Cbtengr for sending in this cool project and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. So let's get right to it then!
First up for today, our old friend Warriors 1st BN is back with a couple small projects he's been working on. I'm sure most of you guys who are regular here remember his Post-Apocalypse Road Kill vehicle and all his post-Apocalypse warriors, like Dave Mustaine. Well in this photo set, he's created a couple custom guns for them. One, a cool version of the M240 and the other an equally cool version of the M249 (?). Of course, he's put these together by chopping them up and adding new pieces and weathering them up to look like something out of a Post-Apocalypse world, you know all sort of rusty and everything. I swear though, he's done such a cool job on these, that you'd swear he picked them up off a 1/1 scale Hollywood set somewhere. Some fantastic detailing. So be sure to check these out! Special thanks to Warriors 1st Bn for sending these in and sharing them with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, we have two new meet the troops page photos. Boy, it's been a while since we've had one of those. It's always great to put a face with the name. The two new troops who have been added are Ranger322 (and Little Ranger, his son) and Cbtengr. So if you have a minute, be sure to go check these out! Special thanks to Ranger322 and Cbtengr for sending their mug shots in and sharing them with us. Sharp Salute!

Aaahhh, two of my favorite genres, and both industry atypical, non repetitive imaginative examples! District 9 turns the old aliens invade standard plot on it's head in a smart reverse take on the apartheid tip, creative, subversive, and thanks to the wonderfully naturalistic understated loopy lead actor and his supporting cast, ultimately superior to much of the crappy SCI FI that has been churned out recently. Weta, the computer tech art/design people responsible for Jackson's KING KONG, and the LORD OF THE RINGS series special EFX here make the relatively low budget movie SHINE with a completely convincing gritty look, both over the top grossness, and under stated realism. For the buds at the board with little kids, it does earn it's R rating both for the fook, fook, FOOKING damage it does with the crazed dialog, and the hilarious, cringe worthy carnage and spew.
Despite my personal antipathy for the director himself, I have to give credit where credits due. For Quentin's latest, you are already hearing OSCAR buzz both at Cannes, and Hollywood for the actor playing the German officer in the movie nick named the "Jew Hunter", but there are several outstanding set piece performances by other fine actresses and actors in this fast talking ( in four different languages! )suspenseful cat and mouse WWII fantasy arty action war movie. Like many of his movies, it is full of pointed cinema references and witty banter about movies. In this alternative universe, movies rule. For some, not me, the movie is overly talky, with long, long delectable scenes of tense suspense building literate dialog, punctuated by brutally stylistic violence, and beautifully decked out with fully dressed retro sets and for some of the buds here, loads of wonderful examples of real looking uniforms and gorgeous Nazi regalia, if yer into that sort of thing, LOL. I could go on but , just go and see these two movies for yourself, TC.

Ok troops, time for the first site update of the week. Two cool sets to start off with, the first, one of our continuing story lines and the second, a cool custom tip for the tips' page. So let's get right to them!
First up for today our old friend Irish13 is back with part 46 of his cool WWII OSS story starring Lt. Cal Lee, continued from photo set 3879. Ol' Irish takes a little bit of a different route with this episode as Cal Lee beds down for the night and slips into some kind of bizarre nightmarish dream. I really like the technique that Irish used on the dream sequence, it's really unique looking and very weird. Perfect for this storyline. More great photos, setups and text from him of course, so if you've been waiting for the next adventure of Cal Lee like I have, then be sure to check this new installment out. Special thanks to Irish13 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, our old friend Sgt. Howard is back with a cool customizing tip for the custom tips section. A very sharp looking solar powered WWII era street lamp. He pretty much gives us the entire low down on this project including where to find all the pieces and shows you how he assembled it. I'm sure you guys remember seeing one that he built in a previous photo set, I know personally I was interested in knowing how he did it, so I'm really glad he sent this in to share with everyone. You will find this in the misc. section of the custom tips page for future reference. A cool project here from the Sarge, so be sure to check it out! Special thanks to Sgt. Howard for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

- Germany Invaded Poland 70 Years Ago Today..... -- Sgt. Horvath 1, 07:51:12 09/01/09 Tue (mail-out.gov.calgary.ab.ca/192.41.148.220)
The German Army crossed the border into Poland on September 01, 1939....70 years ago today.
Most historians agree the "world war" started in 1937 or in 1939. The most commonly accepted date is either September 1st or 3rd, 1939.
The date is debated, as the following events are cited as possible starting points:
- 1 September 1939: The German invasion of Poland.
- 3 September 1939: France and Britain declared war on Germany. (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa followed by 10 September).
- The Soviet Union: 22 June 1941 (German attack on the USSR).
- 7 July 1937: The Japanese invasion of China (the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War).
- 1931: The Japanese invasion of Manchuria.

I was prowling around in our Hobby Lobby the other day while looking for some paint. Found an addition to the Revell 1:6th scale engines, the Ford Flat Head V8. With a little work I can see this being used in a variety of WWII applications for the U.S. Canadian/British, and German vehicles. The Germans started the war with more Ford Flat Head V8s than the British and U.S. combined.

Well, I think the universe was telling me something because I woke up at around 1:30 A.M. and just thought I should check out the free section on CRAIGSLIST. well, there it was..FREE Vacuum former!!
After a bit of calling and arranging I went and picked this clunker up and yes it is a clunker!!
The sheet size will be pretty big ( 12X 18 I think) but it is needing major-MAJOR re-wiring and is not functional right at the moment. But for the future...things are going to be great with this machine as I will help out the board members to accomplish VF( vacuum formed) things. Keep this in mind for the near future and I will keep you updated.

I checked the HOH, I don't see another Hammerhead listed. ( And if there is one, I'll just kill him off. Just kidding)
If it's possible to change the HOH entries to reflect the change, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you,
FET

- Site Update! -- GreenLeader, 18:21:14 08/27/09 Thu (pool-72-87-32-89.spknwa.btas.verizon.net/72.87.32.89)
Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week. It's another of our continuing photo story episodes, so let's get right to it then.
Wrapping up another cool week of site updates for us is our old friend Hogie309 with the next terrific episode of his WWII Town of Marwencol saga, continued from photo set 3891. If you guys remember from the last episode, Hogie and the crew were off watching some dancing girls in Le'Morge. In this episode, Hogie and the crew return with a new Marwencol resident. Once again, a very enjoyable episode here from Hogie filled with all kinds of great dialog, setups and photography. So if you've been waiting for the next episode of Marwencol like I have, then definitely don't miss this newest one. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this cool new episode in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that wraps up this week. I'm running a bit low on photos around here, but I do believe I have at least something in the bin to start off the week with. So be sure to come on back regular time Sunday night/ Monday morning when we'll get this whole thing started up again. Until then... take it lite men.
Have a great weekend guys!
Sharp Salute!
