Ok troops, time for the last site update of the week. And as promised, it's another one of our story episodes, so let's get right to it then.
Returning to wrap up this week is our old friend Hogie309 with the next episode of his WWII Town of Marwencol saga, continued from photo set 3947. We get to see more of Deja and Pvt. York in this episode and also a couple new ghosts show up. I don't really want to give anything more away here, but I will say another terrific batch of photos from ol' Hogie and the storyline is always very enjoyable. So I'll be a bit brief here and let you guys get on to those photos and the brand new episode of Marwencol. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this terrific new installment in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that wraps up this week. We're still running a bit low on photos around here, but I do believe I have at least something to start off the week with. So be sure to come on back regular time, Sunday night/ Monday morning when we'll get this whole thing started up again. Until then... take it lite guys.
Have a great weekend guys!
Sharp Salute!

- Oh man, after our discussion earleir tonight that story really hit me. Thanks for showing Ilaf and me that close because I truly believe that would be so true. But, do you think you could fit me in with all those cute gals without my wife finding out? LOL! The German "victim" in the helmet shot rocked. Love how Deja snapped him there too! Keep it up Hogie! - Thank You GL and Fellas, for your comments on this episode :) It took me eight days, to shoot over 1,000 frames of this episode. From the time it takes for the German prisoners to be walked out of the Town Hall and down Main St., to where the SS are holding our friends.... all of these little side-stories happen, like this one that's unfolding right now, with Deja, Victor, and Pvt. York.... :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 19:38:22 11/06/09 Fri
- Hogie your efforts are well shown in the photos... I always like when Deja sends one of the germans to the KILLING fields! Very good! (NT) -- ilaf, 22:16:24 11/06/09 Fri

Hey Everybody,
I've run into a slight roadblack in my cataloging of the collection I'm selling. I went to the Dragon Models site and they didn't have their oiriginal figures archived. By that I mean, Hans, Gerhard, Ernst, and others I have aren't shown anymore.
I have a few loose figures I plan on listing for sale but have no idea which ones thay are anymore. "Old" age setting in I guess.
Anyway, if you guys know of another website that would have a more comprehensive listing, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
H76

Ok troops, time for another cool site update. Two cool sets for today, so let's get right to them.
First up for today, friend and fellow trooper Cbtengr is back. This time with a cool new WWII era photo story. Featured here are his US troops on a little demo mission to blow up a bridge with their French Resistance fighter contact. Some terrific work here. It looks like Cbtengr's war room is coming along now because this is where this episode was filmed if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, some cool stuff here and a terrific photo story, so be sure to go take a peek at it. Special thanks to Cbtengr for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Next up, our old friend Zman is back with a few more photos of that WWI era Marine of his. I'm pretty sure this is the same guy we saw before that was in the gas mask and everything. This time though, he's out on the battlefield with his shotgun and on a new mini diorama base of course. So if you were hoping to see more pics of this cool soldier like I was, then be sure to check these new photos out. Special thanks to Zman for sending this cool new project in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, we have two new Hall of Honor members. A very sharp salute to BHD and Sledgehammah for proving themselves to be good traders and helping out their fellow troops in need. Great work guys, that's the spirit!
Well guys, I believe that does it for today. One more cool site update left in the week though and I do believe that belongs to our weekly Marwencol episode. And you know if it's by Hogie, it will definitely be worth checking out. So be sure to come on back regular time tomorrow and take a peek at it. Until then... take it lite guys.
Sharp Salute!

- Yes, Congrats to BHD and sledgehammah on HOH status. Cbtengr, I have to agree that is one cool room! But I like the story and the last picture! Zman, that is a very nice figure and I like the diorama base and poses. (NT) -- ilaf, 18:39:40 11/04/09 Wed
- Great story and I like the tie in with Marwencol. Zoli that figure looks great. (NT) -- 11B1SG, 18:48:21 11/04/09 Wed
- Cbtengr, I LOVE what you've done with your war room !! That bridge is awesome !, and the Marwencol road sign was very, very cool too !! The light over the guard shack is very realistic, and the explosion in the end, was a great picture to enhance the illusion of the bridge blowing up. Very cool :) Zman, ... dust, dirt, mud for realism, that's what I see in this diorama of yours !! I LOVE it !!! Excellent portrayal of a doughboy in the trenches at the Somme :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 18:55:58 11/04/09 Wed

Can someone explain to me the logic behind the "Reserve Price" option on Ebay auctions? I mean it seems to me if you wanted no less than 30 bucks for the item your selling wouldn't you just start the bidding at that price insead of setting a hidden reserve price? Considering that bidders are just going to up their bids incrementally intil they reach your reserve price anyway, what's the point?
Am I alone here in my confusion or is there some sort of marketing strategy at work here that I'm ignorant to? :) I'd really like to know :)
[ Post a Reply to this Message ][Edit]
Replies:
- IMHO, if someone just sets the price at what they want (ie: too high to start off with), they may not get any bids. By setting that "secret" reserve price, it can start a bit of a bidding competition, often natural curiosity takes over, and many times the seller gets even more than the reserve. (NT) -- Sgt. Horvath 1, 07:48:02 11/04/09 Wed
- I agree, its very confusing and frustarting. The only reason behind people doing this, besides the compeition idea is maybe price of posting an item on eBay? I've never sold, but is there not a fee for your begining price? (NT) -- BHD, 14:59:35 11/04/09 Wed
- They also may have no idea what it is worth. By setting an extremely high reserve they can see, roughly, what the "going" price is, then relist it at that or close to it price. (NT) -- Steve Wood, 16:55:59 11/04/09 Wed
- What I hate are items that have a Reserve and a Buy It Now option together. Ebay charges you fees for having those options, so why not just have it listed with just the Buy It Now price? (NT) -- Sgt.Schultz, 23:04:15 11/05/09 Thu

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Only one set today, but it's a terrific one, so let's get right to it.
Returning for today is our old friend Checkmate King 2 with another one of his awesome Civil War era photo sets. This one focuses on Confederate General John Hunt Morgan and his Raiders. CK2 mixed a little bit of some of his older shots with some of his new ones to really flush out the photo shoot. Once again, some excellent photos from ol' CK2. So if you're into that Civil War stuff, then you definitely won't want to miss this newest set from our old friend. Excellent work once again! Back when I was a cop years ago and would get off from 2nd or 3rd shift my son left his Joes and Sams in police uniforms sitting in different places along my route through the house holding Cheerios as doughnuts and some Joe coffee cups. - Somewhat off-topic rant -- Sgt. Howard, 18:08:25 10/30/09 Fri (NoHost/64.139.109.52)
I HATE BARBIE!!! Bulimic, anorexic brain-dead bimbo that she is- if a woman had her dimentions, she would be 5"9" tall, 115 pounds and incapable of a menstral cycle. What preciouse body fat she has is in her bustline (and behind her vacuose smile between her ears). I would pay GOOD money for an articulated scale 45 y/o female, shoulder-length frowsy hair, 20 pounds overweight at 5'4" and rather plain in the face- in fact, I would adore a second face sculpt of her scowling (looking at a soldier, her children, battle damage to her home, her drunken husband or the local Tart).
Now that I've done that rant- I JUST SAW A BARBIE TOILET!!! SCALE!!! It is a purple and pink rendition of a modern water saver type operation- does anybody make the sephentine high tank T. Crapper in scale? The one with the pull chain? Now THERE's a product to research and develop- I suppose a master can be made to form a plaster two-piece mold for slip casting... assuming somebody has a kiln and is familiar with clay working... THIS silly thing comes with a claw-footed tub (in pink) as well as a free-standing victorian sink (in purple) and a variety of accessories in equally absurd colors. The whole pile is reasonably cheap if you want to mess with it. Skipper (pre-teen) and a five or six year old sibling/relative/urchin are back- the younger child has a BIG head, but Skipper is actually somewhat proportional for a 10-13 YO growing up in occupied France. I think the knees bend somewhat as well- $19 for Skipper- mind you wardrobe will have to be from scratch as what she has is just too bubblegum.

Ok troops, time for the first site update of the week. And we'll start off with one of our weekly photo stories. Let's get right to it then!
Starting off this week is our old friend Irish13 with part 11 of his cool modern era photo story, "The GunPoint", continued from photo set 3941. I do believe Irish said this is the second to the last part here. If you guys remember from previous episodes, everybody was out there in the desert looking for some mysterious chemical weapon that made the people who took it almost invincible. In this episode, the weapon is finally found. I don't want to give anymore of the story away here, so I'll just say another terrific episode from ol' Irish. It looks like he's building up to a cool ending. I can hardly wait to see it. For now though, be sure to check out this terrific new episode of The GunPoint. Special thanks to Irish13 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Well guys, I guess that's it for today. More cool stuff on the way for tomorrow of course, so be sure to come on back regular time for more terrific work from our fellow men in the field. Until then... take it lite guys.
Sharp Salute!

It looks like some stuff is about ready to heat up here in Marwencol, so definitely be sure to check out this terrific new episode from our old friend. Super work as always from him. Hey Everybody,
It seems like a million years since my last posting here on GL's Board. What can I say, things happen and I got involved in competitive shooting and one of my favorite hobbies fell by the wayside.
Anyway, since there are still a number of fellow collectors still interested in the hobby, I wanted to ask you guys how I should go about selling off my figures.
I thought about EBay and other methods but since I knew you all would be interested, I wanted your input because I'm sure you might be interested in freeing me up of a lot of my "gear".
With GL's permission I was thinking of posting a comprehensive list but wanted to ask first. Also most of my collection is made up of GI Joes in the super articulated bodies and Dragon figures in gear from 21st Century, BBI, Dragon, and GI Joe. They are also in "squads" of 2-5 figures depending on the units they represent.
So please let me know what you guys think. If you are in the Central Texas (Temple/Waco) area, I'd be willing to show you my collection to see if you are interested in buying.
Feel free to contact me at my e-mail address and let me know what you might be looking for. I haven't bought or traded for anything since probably the Summer of 2004 so my collection is dated from 1998 through 2004.
Thanks everyone!

...but I didn't have enough stuff to fill out the week so I figured I take an unscheduled day off mid week, and then fill out the rest of the week instead of making it a long weekend. Looks like we're in another of those "lull" periods we get a couple times a year.
Anyway just wanted to let you know that a site update is planned as scheduled for tonight and tomorrow.

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Two cool sets tonight, so let's get right to them.
First up today, our old friend Zman is back with another of his cool figure projects. This time we get a very sharp looking UDT from D-Day. Ol' Zman set him up on a mini dio depicting him sneaking around on the beach planting charges on beach obstacles. Of course you guys know what to expect from Zman, another terrific project here from him. Those UDTs had some super guts on D-Day, that's for sure. I definitely wouldn't have wanted to be one of them :) Anyway, like I said, terrific project here, so be sure to check it out. Special thanks to Zman for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

And last but NOT least for today, our old friend Odwin sends us in a highlight photo shoot featuring some pics he took of a little vacation that he, his brother and their wives went on. They visited Freedom Park by his home, Offit AFB & The Strategic Air and Space Museum. It looked like they had lots of fun and there was lots of cool stuff to see for sure that I would have liked to take a peek at in person. So be sure to go take a look at this cool new scrapbook page submission. Special thanks to Odwinn for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Sharp Salute!

Returning for today is our old friend Hogie309 with the next installment of his WWII Town of Marwencol saga, continued from photo set 3939. This is part 2 of "The Longest Episode". As always, another fantastic batch of photos here from Hogie. In this episode, all the townsfolk and troops start to come together to defend Marwencol once again. So a lot of you get to see your 1/6th mini mes in this episode :) This episode really is sort of a build up episode I believe for what comes next. As always, I'm amazed by Hogie's photo taking skills to give these little guys such feeling. So if you've been waiting for the next Marwencol episode like I have, then you won't want to miss this newest one. Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this one in and sharing it with us. Howard,... you, Tank Mechanic, and I, are out on 'patrol' right now, while all of this is going on, in Marwencol. We (the tank and crew), are in our own little world. We're part of everything that's going on in town... you'll see :) Remember, it's a very, very, very long episode, and there's so many little 'side-stories' that go on during the 'prisoner trade' :) Deja has her own little cameo appearance, and we all find out who the Marwencol Knight is, in this very long episode :) (NT) -- Hogie309 (HOH), 18:21:47 10/23/09 Fri
