Subject: Graeylin's Military Trivia

El Paso Trooper, you were dead on the stick! Those particular Chicom weapons had been infested with Termites, and the fore-grips were toast... Rotted and sawdust filled holes, if there was anything left.

Now, we'll do one from my own father... (USN, active, December 8 1941 to December 7, 1945, USNR 1947 - 1950)

This weapon was much coveted by Seabees during World War II, although it was never officially issued to them. They would trade almost anything to get one from the Army or Marine units, when they could.

We'll make a multi-part question out of it...

What weapon was it?

Why did the Seabees want it so much/What did the Seabees use it for?

And Lastly, for those who really dig deep...

What "tool" or addition did the Seabees design to use with that weapon, to make it an even easier tool for them to use?
