Subject: Yea, there have been tests in recent years dealing with oil viscosity and different synthetics. And yes on both accounts. Thinner oil, to a point and synthetics are a plus for power. One things for sure, like NASCAR or not, they spend MILLIONS upon MILLOINS testing this stuff. Exotic ( read that light weight) materials oils, even read where they did tests on water additives and "non-water" counterparts. Yes...there seems to be accross the board a......see inside for more oil related information

big plus for thin synthetics. But be carefull. If your engine wasn't setup bearing and piston clearance wise, it can cause problems. Another note on oil, a new well oiled chain will show +HP on the chassis dyno.
Most of todays bikes can go to 10 or 15 as the minimum number. Some offer "0" (0/20 or 0/30) weight oils. The tighter clearanced car engines can use them but unless your building a race "qualifing" engine, I wouldn't in the bikes.
