Thinner oil is less drag, and why most new cars are coming with 5W20 in them for fuel economy. But I doubt it's measurable on a Dyno. Just stick with what is reccomended. I tried 20W50 in the tiller one time and it shifted like a bear. -- TL1000 SV1000 Message Board

Yea, there have been tests in recent years dealing with oil viscosity and different synthetics. And yes on both accounts. Thinner oil, to a point and synthetics are a plus for power. One things for sure, like NASCAR or not, they spend MILLIONS upon MILLOINS testing this stuff. Exotic ( read that light weight) materials oils, even read where they did tests on water additives and "non-water" counterparts. Yea, the statement about the garage funding is quite accurate. My point was to collect opinoins about the issue which has occured.
